Can you post this drawing?. The fact that it does not show the cross bracing is interesting.Let's go back to the photo in "Ferrari Fifty Years on the Track" stated as being 01C and really is 010I probably taken at Symboloc 40 years later This is the chassis of the renumbered 01C also with no cross bracing and surely is the Folland,Williment car used in the Autocar article when the car was being raced by Folland in England.

I rely on the research done by Michael Muller on these very early cars who confirms the accepted theory that the number 010I was given to chassis 01C after it was "rebuilt" by Ferrari. Personally I put more faith in this than in two humans named Adam and Eve in a gasrden with an apple and a snake, but that is one man's opinion. Tongascrew

Is that about the frame a confirmed fact? Where has this been confirmed? FWIW, the picture does not show the magnetos...

The "Le Mans winner" was #016I.
However, the chassis was rather identical with that of the other LWB Spyder Corsas.

Both SWB cars, 008I and 014I, had been built as sister cars at the same time. Both made their public appearance the first time at the Bari F2 race early May 1948. For 014I the frame is confirmed, it was basically the same frame later used for the 166MM. The new SWB chassis was one of the first jobs Colombo performed after his return to Ferrari in January 1948. I see absolutely no reason why 008I should have a different layout than its sister car.

But the corresponding openings in the bulkhead...!

And as the article says, it was built as a four seater?

I would love to see a photo!

    Hi Michael
This may have been covered before (it's a long thread) but what do you know about "The remains he sold back to Stan Nowak, who built a new car around them." Any information at all on this? Any chassis no.?

    Hi Michael
Could some of these questions be answered if there was a third car (which until now was unknown)?

Is it known for certain what happened to the Folland car?
I can't work it out from reading the posts here.

I think the coupes raced in the Mexican road race were touted as four seaters, but the back seats were only suitable for a stuffed animal or a very small perhaps legless human.

All this I consider as "public knowledge", somebody in the chain of information may have more details incl. first hand info, but it's not me.

Chassis number of course was 002. Nowak sold 002 with the Motto body to Carl Bross. He intended to restore 002 for Bross, but than Bross died. His whole collection was taken over by Anthony Bamford. Bamford then had 2 SC's, both with a roadster body, but he opted to restore 010I and not 002. No idea what he finally used from 002 to complete or repair 010I, and it would also be logical that he took some parts as spares. Stan Nowak bought from Bamford 002 - most probably incomplete - including the Motto body, plus some period parts from the large pile which Bamford bought from the factory at scrap value. Nowak sold the Motto body (there is a period advertisement), completed 002, and fitted a new Spyder Corsa bodywork which (historically correct) is a copy of 004C which he restored already in the 60's.

No, in my opinion it would complicate the whole thing even more.

Thinking about the thread on the "egg" and if it changed chassis brings me back to this thread. Why would the barchetta and the siluro bodies of 001 and 002 been swaped up and back? It seems more likely to me that the chassis plates would have been swapped up and back...

002 doesn't have a chassis plate. The chassis itself is stamped 002.
