(Re posted from another thread for "visibility") Time to get serious...I need some feel for who is "in". I understand weather is an issue and we will put that aside. Bad weather = no participants. Plan is to gather at (the red dot on the map) Oliver's Tavern, 85 Westbrook Road (route 153), Centerbrook CT. around 9:00AM on Saturday 7/19, Finalize the route, disseminate maps, and move out. Some other idea's have been discussed like shopping for the ladies, lunch, hooking up with Essex Steam Train, or 9 holes at Fenwick. There has been zero interest so I'm bagging those idea's unless I hear differantly now. No point in planning if knowone wants to do it. Who's in???? Here is a repost of the proposed route. ...Last week there were over 15 guys wanting to do this on this date...Now...Crickets. Joe - You were in, are you still??? Jay - I know your 355 isn't ready yet, but are you in with the STi? Dave (glastonbury), Dave (deep river), Dave (fairfield). Matt, Chris, Peter, Alex, Kieth, Marc...What's up? I thought we all wanted to do this.
I'd love to but can't, already have plans Good news is the 355 should be on the road within a week or so
I am hoping to. I developed an overheating problem last weekend. I've been silent on F-Chat as I am frantically working in the garage to find the cause. I can only drive the car for about 15 minutes then have to pull over to let her cool down. I have drained and flushed the cooling system, but to no evail. I am now going though all the lines to see if I can find a blockage. It was fine for a quick ride on Saturday morning, but went to go out for my weekly Sunday coffee run to Starbucks, and the temp guage shot up and the "slow down" light came on. I guess this is life with with a 23 year old car... I'll let you know on Friday if I have solved the problem.
Love to come out and meet everyone for a drive. That said, just came back from a 2 day track event and leaving this Sunday for Pocono. If i add any more car stuff this weekend im going to be in trouble. Your efforts are appreciatted and i hope this becomes a regular event for us CT guys.
such is life with old cars My Firebird love to overheat, especially after pushing her on the highway. Any chance it's a bleeding issue? Apparently the 355 self bleeds if you turn the heater on, but I think I've read about 348's and others having to bleed coolant systems. But if it was a sudden onset this isn't likely...what about worst case, water pump failure?
Lane, on vacation with the wife & kids! Sorry I did not reply sooner she wants me off the computer, it's quality time!!!!! Alex
Lane I am in Winsted CT Saturday for a volleyball tourney. So it should take about a week before I can drive again
It's the love / hate relationship with older cars. I think I have identified the problem. I am pretty sure it is the thermostat. I am having one being overnighted to me. If it does indeed arrive tomorrow, I should have her back to her old self by Saturday. Looks like the drive is being cancelled though due to lack of participation. I wish I did not overnight it now (I think that cost me almost as much as the thermostat itself).
Sorry I didn't chime in earlier. I would be interested just about any weekend that doesn't conflict with a major Ferrari/Italian/exotic event in the NE area - including this weekend if there is a change of heart. Cheers.
Next weekend July 25th is Ferrari club meet at Limerock. Thats a MUST DO...after that...we'll throw something together. Note that the primary thread for this stuff should be Connecticut meet. Many have set a thread watch there.
How far is this rendezvous point from Boston? Always love a good drive. Looking forward to firm details in the coming weeks.
Do you mean ths weekends "to be rescheduled" cruise about 125 miles. If you mean Limerock..156 miles from Fenway. We'd love to have you but understand thats a pretty healthy commute. Worth it for Limerock but probably not for the more limited cruise.
haha, I had an alternator tensioner pulley overnighted thinking I'd be getting the engine in the next day...that didn't happen!
