Did you get one for me Mike? I guess I'm gonna stop playing Call of Duty 4 now. See you in Concorso Mike
My buddy at work has one that collapses, I will get the name from him when I see him. He also got an actuator that takes the low hertz sound (like a subwoofer) and turns it into actual vibration. It mounts on the frame underneath the seat and really makes for an immersive driving experience!! This setup is for the xbox though (mainly Forza2), but I am sure it would work with the PS3
That sounds (feels?) awesome. Please pass along the seat info when you hear back from your buddy. Cheers!
I have the top seat pictured in your post... it's a Playseats Evolution, and per concerns in this thread, it is fairly collapsible. The seat folds forward at about the midpoint of the back and the frame rails slide inward to where it is pretty compact, yet it doesn't feel cheap and collapsible at all when it's set up. It's also very adjustable for wheel height, pedal distance, and wheel distance independantly. I also have a logitech wheel (which has force feedback and 900 degree rotation), and with a PS3, 1080p and GT5p, this setup is the closest thing to being there that I can imagine. I look forward to the launch of this game in the US, and will certainly scoop a copy up on release day in order to ensure an unproductive weekend shortly thereafter. -Tad
Those with the game, could you tell us how the cars sound compared to the real thing? Sound in games is one thing that i'm always curious about.
http://www.fc.system3.com/en/ For sound and views go to videos but also to tracks, there you can see a 430 Challenge do one lap on each track you choose. Looks like a great game. The sound isn't perfect as you can hear, but a game can never be as good as the real thing i'm affraid. I haven't been gaming for years now, but i might get myself a PS3 and this game. Guy
As has been mentioned elsewhere, some of the tracks are not as accurate as you would hope, but I guess the elevation change is particularly hard to get right. VIR is only superficially accurate (and they add all these huge grandstands which do not exist). Still, the video and the sounds look to be fantastic. Like others, I plan to get a PS3 just for this game. I wonder how many PS3s it will sell?
From all the tracks included, i only have real driving experience at Spa Francorchamps, and indeed it isn't as accurate as i hoped, the game makes some corners (The Raidillon for example) look very different.
Maybe a stupid question but I recall DVD's having a regional code that doesn't allow them to be played on DVD players in a different region (continent)? Are video games like that?
Sounds like a sweet setup. Post pics! I have the Momo wheel that came out the same time as GT4 on PS2 and built a rough set up out of wood that is pretty darn ugly. My wife made me move the set up to the laundry! Thanks for the info. I'll check it out. When the full GT5 and this Fcar game come out, I'll need something a little more 'proper'
I think I have the same setup. Playseat Evolution with Buttkicker Gamer for the vibration. Those plus the Logitech G25 wheel/pedals (and the Playseat adapter for the G25 gearlever) will run you around $700 (almost twice the cost of the PS3) but well worth it.
the car's sound pretty good actually- each upshift sees a spurt of flame from the exhaust and there's a nice touch of bangs and pops on the over run
I'm finding it ridiculously difficult to corner. I simply fly of the bloody track. Only played it once though. I also didn't seem to be able to find out how to change your view. Can you only have the 'from the cockpit' view when playing the game. Not a fan of that, prefer if the camera view was behind the car and elevated a bit !
Disappointing to hear. Mapping real world terrain with accurate height changes is very easy in games now. This has been a developer's choice, as its no more costly to do right.
chris use the brakes m8 seriously tho the game is tough . i find that a dab of handbrake sorts out the corners . "select" will change camera view
Thanks for the Tips Tony. It had dawned on me that i might be finding it tough as im ****e at it !!!!!!!!!
