4200 vs. Grandsport

There really aren't any options that are all the important. However, forget about the factory navigation option. All owners agree it is completely useless and a $200 Garmin Nuvi will run circles around it.

As for possible faults, but the newest model that the budget will allow. 2004 and newer cars seem to have the most bugs worked out, latest software, and most reliable F1 pump/relay.

 

Yes!!! Scrap the factory NAV it leaves everything to be desired in the 4200 and the radio face on the GS is WAAAY too small, ANY aftermarket NAV system is better.
The GS is a harsher/stiffer ride all around, but much more fun. Tubi's or any other exhaust on the GS can be quite taxing after a while, it's LOUD but sounds great!
The 19" tires on the GS are prone to sidewall bubbles and flats, also sometimes the 19" Pirellis can be hard to come by, especially the rears.
Other than that they are the same car,except for some body mods,interior trim and engine ECU programming.
Find one that is regularly driven and meticulously maintained, no car responds well to sitting in the garage.
Mileage isn't an issue if the car is CLEAN, I have seen 60,000 miles ON 4200'S that still run and drive strong.
One last thing, the clutch will last longer in "Manual" mode, It will still need replacement every 12-18,000 miles though.

Several owners have experienced problems with the stock 19" GS wheels. The combination of cast construction and a low tire profile makes the ride a little more harsh. Hitting a good pothole can crack/damage the rims.

 

i love my gransport and wouldn't trade it for anything - you should drive both and see if the differences in the 2 are worth the extra cost to get the gransport. some think it's worth it, some don't. good luck.
