I have a FANTASTIC shot of Felice Biondetti at the ring 52 driving smoking a pipe.. Computer is broken now though..:'(
strange - seems to be the same situation but different background !?!? first the GTO crashes into the Aston and then the SWB into the GTO causing the damage on the side. position of the cars in last pics would look like it happened this way. even the SWB 2735GT would fit in TT 1962 ! who can clear this up ?
Do you believe the first photos are 1962? If so they've changed the numbers on the cars before the last photo.
Hi Michael 1962 TT. It's just that the photos are taken from different positions. If you look at the black and white Ferodo signs behind the cars you can see that they are the same. The white sign even being broken in the same place. Nathan
i am talking about the crash pics. starting pics are from different races ! nathan - thats what i thought too ! but i have to admit, that the different angle does not explain all. where is the avon sign gone ? is it possible, that the banners have been changed while the crashes happened ? did the sponsors share the space by changing the banners like the modern automatic displays do today ???
This is a great photo book (text in French only), bought it myself at 24H last june. 90% photos which have not been in other Ferrari books. http://cgi.ebay.fr/Ferrari-au-Mans-1961-1967-Sport-Prototypes_W0QQitemZ370068303137QQihZ024QQcategoryZ146159QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Tom
Nice shot of future World Champion MIke Hawthorn at Silverstone in 1953 - with a friend... Photo: The GP Library DCN Image Unavailable, Please Login
The car with Hawthorn is 0268AM, a Touring-bodied 340. It ended up in L.A. after it's racing days concluded, and was driven regularly around SoCal in the mid-60's by Lynn Diamant, the second president of the Ferrari Owners Club. Although not truly ugly, it was certainly not as attractive as the Barchettas by that builder, and was somehow too large, in the flesh.
I have been corrected by the estimable Jim Lustman; perhaps it's 0294. If so, Lynn's car was the twin.
Just one outside, though ! For telaio historians; one friend, on a french forum, is searching who is Maurice Dantinne ? M Dantinne was it ever owner of s/n 16717 before the Belgian François Degand ? Cause 365 GTB/4 Competition Daytona Maurice Dantinne is quite comparable to that of Ecurie Francorchamps. thank you Regards
