Received a call from Sports Car Shop in Eugene enquiring why I had not sent in all the paperwork to complete the purchase of the 360 Spider. I asked if they had received all the keys for the car. They stated that they were under the impression I would take care of ordering the keys. I told them I would, as long as they gaurenteed they would take care of any expenses related to the keys, such as switching out the ECU, if required. They refused... I walked.
Still in the market for a nice 360...with all the keys.
Thanks to everyone for all their help and advise.

I would get that in writing I just wouldn't allow anybody to tell me anything. You wouldn't want your Ferrari experience to be ruin do you?

    Thanks Adil.
I'm going to take delivery of my 430 Spider in about a month.

I am a partner in Sports Car Shop, and as I stated to you, we were willing to pay for the new remotes and additional key after the sale and delivery. I had copied you on a quote from Ferrari to acquire and fully program the keys. It was clearly understood that Ferrari was quoting 4 weeks for delivery, and at times had taken two months for delivery of new keys and remotes. We offered to completely cover the cost to fully recreate the original key and remote package. The car has now one key and one remote and operates perfectly. The task was only to take the car to the Ferrari dealer in your area to have them install and program the package when it arrived at our cost. You stated this morning that you did not want the car unless we acquired the keys and remotes prior to you paying for the car and taking delivery. Since this is not what we originally negotiated, I simply told you I would be refunding your deposit and moving on.

Sports Car Shop did nothing to cause you to "walk". You chose to renegotiate and I chose to sell a wonderful 360 spider to someone else.

    Joe:

If I misunderstood that you wanted me take delivery of the vehicle before I had a complete set of key, I apologize. This was not my understanding, or intention. However, after you stated yesterday that was what you had expected, I asked you for a gaurantee that you would take care of any issues relating to get a working set of keys, including changing ECUs, if required. You stated "that's a problem, I'll refund your deposit". That's what caused me to walk.
In your summation of the description of the vehicle, you state you have a "no issues" car. I think you have a big issue here. Publicly, I will tell you again, I will purchase the vehicle, and take delivery, if you take care of any and all issues relating to getting a working set of keys.
Look forward to hearing from you.

A lot of different opinions on this board about pricing. So would you mind telling us what the final quote from the dealership was, and under what conditions (alarm code available for example) they would get a new set ?
    Thanks in advance

The keys dont matter. The remote is what talks to the ECU. The ECU can be reprogrammed with a new master and code one time. After that the ECU needs to be cycled. For this situation, since we have one key and remote and an original ECU, an additional key is needed as well as two new remotes and a master. Additionally if you do not have the code, you will need to order a new code. I actually have the code for this car, so that lops an additional $150 off the price. Quote from Ferrari was for $948 I believe. The only real hassle here is the ridiculous delivery time from Ferrari.

Don't wait until August 1 when SpA closes for summer holidays... or you'll likely add another 30 days to the delivery time, minimum.
