I'm looking through my old pics - I took a few of a 246 GTS in similar condition in Centreville, Maryland in the late 80's. drove past it several days after they dragged it out of the woods behind the shop before realizing what it was. No top, sitting outside little interior in it, but not wrecked. At the time I was driving a TVR Griffith 200 and I knew for years there was a bunch of old British cars in the woods behind this shop (mostly it was Austin Healeys and MG's so I had never asked what else might be back there). Anyway, I knocked on the door asking what they might want for the Dino and they refused to sell the whole car because he could "cut it up and make more than it's worth whole" he said he was going to get $2000 for the "front half of it alone" Anyway - here's a few 308GT4's that are still sitting... If I can find the 246 pics I'll post em Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I don't know if there are more pics. but you can see a wire framed 250 GTO on the top of the other bodys. I don't really know nothing about the photo just received by email to long ago
Sad for me to see this, but this is the car I would love to save being a huge Mondial aficionado Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I'm kind of the same way. I think it has to do with the fact that, at least for me, these neglected cars hold a secret story as to why they ended up being so neglected. Stolen? Deceased owner? Alzheimers? Super wealthy person that has so many material items that they simple forgot or don't care? Interesting to say the least. Great thread!
Haha I actually wrote in the description that I didn't take these so I wouldn't get these types of questions. wspeer- its possible I got these pictures off ebay b/c I browse that site a lot
Ferrari 250 GTE found on ebay reasonly, might have been discussed in this forum somewhere Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
This one hits close to home...my former 330 2+2, as found abandoned in a Dallas parking garage early this year. Image Unavailable, Please Login
It was totaled in a May 2007 accident...the major damage doesn't show in this pic...and subsequently sold at an insurance auction. By the time this pic was taken, it was long out of my possession. Anothe Fchat regular, ArtS, wanted to bring it back to life and tried twice to buy it at auction, but unfortunately it didn't work out for him. I think it's changed hands maybe three times since I turned it over to Hagerty Insurance in midsummer '07. We were planning on a house construction project at the time, and in light of this I elected to take the entire agreed-value payout rather than take a partial payment and keep the car; at times I regret not keeping the 330. However, I am very happy with my current 308, and a future Vintage 12 project car is not out of the question. You're right on there...it still hurts. I reconditioned and restored it from a semi-barnfind, suffering from 20 years of benign neglect, to an excellent driver; spent about $35K on top of the purchase price on parts and professional-shop work, plus several hundred hours of my own labor.
Its kind of mixed emotions when we see these car pics in this thread!.....(more pity I wonder.). Hope they would be get back to driving condition as ever!!
Where the Black one is there are a ton of cars in there and behind the building there was about a dozen cars, which he tells me he junked (the cars outside). the cars that were junked included I think 3 Rolls, a Maser Merak, some BMW's and I believe Jags. I hadn't noticed at the time, but looking at the pics it looks like the GT4 with the stuffed shark sitting on it has been made into a spider In the same garage with it is a Miura, countach, boxer convertible, Aston Martin Lagonda, several Rolls, delorean, Ghibli, another Merak, Detomaso Mangusta, a couple 360CS's, Koenig TR twin turbo, and a few others.. The shop where the red GT4 with a jeep hardtop laying on the roof is doesn't have such rare stuff, but still has a few interesting cars including a 69 Vette, a 75 vette convertible, Triumph GT6, several MG's, maser biturbo, one of my BMW 750's, several other BMW and Mercedes cars, some of our Lambo spares, another replica of mine, and a old style race car trailer that years ago carried Owen Coon's former 250TR to the track when he was racing it ( I think around 1960-61). They sold a few cars there including a 365 coupe and a 250GTE, that's why he has room to store a few things for me
I've posted em in the past in various sections, but will post a few here too. I musta been tired or just had a blonde moment when I typed that. I wrote "365 coupe" meant "356" as in the little Porsche. And no, I won't say exactly where this stuff is unless I get permission from the owner. I'm only posting the pics without the owner in view since I don't have his permission to tell the world he has this stuff as well. Lets see, first I guess the one where the black 308gt4 is..
