What is wrong with the bumpers on this car? http://cgi.liveauctions.ebay.com/1064-1982-RED-FERRARI-400i-PININFARINA-COUPE-low-mile_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ28193QQihZ002QQitemZ120284383824QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW#la-image-7 Some importer try to do 5mph bumpers? Wow.....hid-e-ous.
Whats wrong with the bumpers? They're PAINTED thats whats wrong. The whole car has undergone a color change. Look very close at the interior shot and you'll figure out what color she used to be.
You losing your eye Dave? Look at the SIZE of the front and rear bumpers. Yes, they are painted (and I absolutely hate that.)....but the size is what's nuts...because it's not the factory part just sticking out, this is a replacement part completely. Almost like the custom 5mph bumpers that RIs put on the 512bb for federalization....but 99% put the factory bumpers back on afterwards. It's almost like this one never got the real bumpers put back on....
I kind of like the car myself... I know I am in the minority on this one, but I like the body colored bumpers (I do own 928's after all... and they kind of started that trend) and I don't think these look BAD, but that is just me. Why would anyone do a LIVE ebay auction??? I don't understand that. Is there anyone close to this car (looks like St. Pete, FL) who could look to see how much rust is on the car and if the repaint was any good, front end rebuilt or in need of it. Dave, did these early cars have the PITA leveling rear suspension? I don't think they did, but I don't know them well enough yet... I am eventually going to buy a red 400, but probably NOT this one... 20% buyers premium...give me a break! Thanks guys, James
You have no idea. Its harvest time. I, and everybody else around here, has been at it 36 hours straight. Series 1 cars, like Aidan's, did not have load levelers. If it has push buttn switches on the dash it has loadleveler suspension system.
James, It is a live auction with an ebay link - this way you don't have to be at the auction to bid. If you are serious about buying at a live auction, arrainge for a telephone bid. The auction house will call you shortly before your lot is up and you will be able to bid live - 3% cheaper than ebay and you can hear what is going on in the room. Regards, Art S.
Ron, I suspect it's the carpeting that covers the back seat & the deteriorated foam backing exposed. Bruce
