Channel 21 is going to turn off the analog transmitter at about 8:15pm to test to see if you need an HD box or not. You might want to tune in if you do not know.

BTW, I found out that older weather radios that tune in to TV signals for reports will stop working in February when the analog equipment is turned off. Also, if our computer TV cards are not HD ready they will not work either. Things like Youtube will no longer work. And I thought it was just TV's

I will be tuned in, how about you????

    TXA Channel 21...........

Dad gummit, I need converter boxes on both the TV's. I knew I would need one but I thought the bigscreen would be new enough. Well, now I need a couple of coupons and find a store that will have them in stock.

It's not rocket science. If you receive the TV signal "over the air with an antenna", after February 2009, you WILL NEED either a digital TV set or a "digital to analog" converter box to feed the signal to your old style analog TV.

For them to "turn off the analog" as a test is really just a stupid stunt; probably something dreamed up by a news producer to make a story for the 6PM newscast.

Where did that come from? Youtube has nothing to do with "over the air" TV broadcasts.

Yeah, it sucks, but I bought both of mine from a Walmart, and I hooked it up in a matter of seconds. Get those $40 coupons/only 2 per household, sucks. I got a couple of extra channels here in Austin. We used to get satellite which we canceled, so I don't watch much television anyways.
And, as of now, companies have to tell you if it would work after February 15 or whenever.
Oh, and you better get them quick, WalMart doesn't carry that many on stock anymore (YMMV)

That came from the head tech at Channel 21. I did not catch how he said they were related as I sure thought they were just recorded videos that are played back and have no relationship to a TV signal. The older weather radio does make sense.

I thought the bigscreen was digital when I bought it so I am disappointed in the fact that it is not. My bad.......
