Hey does anyone have any problems with your F355 turning over but not starting, but after I let it sit for 1- 5 min. it starts right up? I have a 1997 F355 gtb and after I had it serviced (oil changed and belts tightened) my car has not wanted to start on the first try. It is very random and occurs with the gas at any level. 13,000 miles and in good shape any suggestions?

First off welcome to F-chat, you have been lurking for sometime without a post :)

On the starting issue is it only when the car is cold or every time you try to start it?

If you do a search on "cold start issue 355" you will find many threads about this.

Welcome buddy, stick around, this place is fun.

That’s strange; I just tried it and got the same result. What makes it stranger is the search feature here normally works very well. I guess we could wait to see if it gets fixed or PM a mod about it.

As for the problem I believe it is to do with the fuel non return valve but that is from memory and I could be totally wrong, perhaps one of the experienced guys will chime in with a possible diagnosis.

Its your fuel pressure regulators mate:D They stop the fuel pressure from dropping and stops the fuel draining away. The good news is that its a simple fix, so simple in fact that even a 348 owner could do it:D. You see that sucker in the picture arrowed in yellow that's it. You have one on EACH SIDE attached to the underside of the FUEL RAIL. Your braided fuel hose is held to it via a single 17mm nut at the hose end. Undo that. Then you see the blue arrows? They are the location of two Allen bolts that hold the regulator on. Undo these and pull the unit away. But be aware that there is a small rubber "O" ring that is attached to the end and can be left up the hole if it slips of. Then replace with the new units which are about £50 (sterling IIRC).
Remember there is one on each side:D Get it done:D:D

Wow!! Must say i am surprised that you even said thank you:) They don't usually, they usually take and run, never to be seen again:D
Anyway mate, your Ferrari dealer can get them easily or maybe a Fchat site sponsor can help you out:D
    Anyway your welcome mate:D
By the way here is a sure fire way of narrowing the problem down to the Fuel regulators. Once your car is running, turn it of and it should re-start again straight away even after 20 seconds. Then turn it of and leave it for 20 mins or so and see if its hard of starting. If it is its the regs:)

I called a dealer in Dallas and he told me each regulator is $1000.00. I told him it should be like $80. Is this correct?

    Hi Rory,

Check out my old thread, "Cold starting difficulties" and you'll find a lot of suggestions to help you narrow down the source of the problem. I think I finally found my problem but need to make further test to confirm in next few days. Will post final results then. Stay tuned!

Looking at the pic Rob posted the regulators are not the same. Look at mine and look at the picture, whats that big bulge about? Also picture shows what looks like a standard rubber tube that fits on to it. Were as it should show a braided fuel line with a nut on the end.
Just waiting for the Dealership mate of mine to get back to me with an accurate and current price for the item that i bought from him last year. I will be back......:D
EXTRA: He ha just got back to me and he sourced the two regulators for me from the Bosh parts list, not from Ferrari. So straight from Bosh they are a fraction of the cost. He is getting back to me with the Bosh number so you can get them for peanuts compared to the Ferrari price.
This is were we really need a Ferrari cross reference register. Some parts sold by Ferrari would cost say $1000, the exact same part from another car would cost say $100. The part that springs to mind is the 355 air con stepper motor that cost £600 from Ferrari in the UK. Its the same part that they fit to SAAB for £80.
When i get the number i will post it up.

I have tried to do this twice and been shot down---The 328's and older have exactly that, a cross reference sticky and where to obtain those non-Ferrari parts. Someone here does not like that idea and keeps shooting it down. I have gathered quite a few cross refernced parts in a list. I plan to put them on the registry site when I get more...

Now thats a dam shame mate:(
But here you go mate, heres the BOSH part number of the regulator that my mate at the Ferrari dealership gave and got me last year. He agrees that the Ferrari part is expensive bought via Ferrari, but he has the direct Bosh numbers for his mates;););). So use this number to by-pass Ferrari and go straight to Bosh and order it at under £70 sterling;);). The number is BOSH 0280160564 for the regulator. I hope you make a note of that number Rob mate, and add it o our future list. I have quite a few more when you get it of the ground.
As far as people who shoot you down go, **** em mate. Just that number alone that i have just gave will save thousands of $&£s. It all helps:D
    Rob, make the list son:D

Unfortunately, I am certain that is coming from the various Fchat sponsors. Parts volume is much greater on the newer cars, so a list like that can have more impact to their bottom line. Hey, with all the sponsors contribute, I can't blame them for a little protectionism. ;)

If you have the list in a word or excel doc, please pm me, as I would like to check it as far as O2 sensors, and revise it for you.
