I thought I'd try to update my word processing capabilities by downloading Office 2007. The download went well, and I can create docs in the office programs. The problem is, once saved I can't open them again. It keeps telling me that there is a problem with my virus software and the "file is not available".

I removed and re-installed the latest version of McAfee and the problem persists.

    Any help would be appreciated.

This is on my home PC and I'm running XP.

    Thanks,
    John

Can you save it as a .doc instead of a .docx and see if that will open?

I can't open the two files I've created so far to be able to do that. I tried creating another one tonight and saved it as a .doc and I get the same message. Microsoft and McAfee are no help whatsoever.

Thanks for the suggestion though, it was worth a shot!!

Wow! - Good find. From 2005 as well!

However, simply removing a dll is kind of like a "partial lobotomy" - Surely *something* isn't going to work properly..... [Given the name, I suspect something in AV land, but who knows?]

Only Micro$oft could get away with this BS.

    Cheers,
    Ian

I just renamed it as Randy suggested and it works. It's some sort of Norton anti-virus plug-in that (as far as I can tell!?) downloads with Office. The only fix I found through Microsoft had me trying to download Norton Live Update which seemed to crash my whole system. I finally got it re-started and removed the Live Update then found this fix and all is well again!!
