Hello, I am thinking of buying my first ferrari and have decided on a F355 with the F1 transmission. Any suggestion what to look for in a used car? What do you guys think of this car on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ferrari-355-F1-Berlinetta-ONLY-6062-miles_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ157044QQihZ018QQitemZ280249725125QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW Actually I'd prefer the fiorano version but so far none is available in CA. BTW I am in San Ramon, CA and the card is in Oxnard, CA which is about a day drive:-(( Thanks in advance for all the suggestions and advise.
Hi, Mike Sage has a beautiful 99 355F1 Series Fiorano Spider that is red/tan. Last I heard, it was for sale here in Los Angeles. Here is a link to contact him............ [email protected] Good luck with your search, Hank
I think you'll find you're not the first person to ask this question and hence there are many many threads here so at least you've begun to look in the right place - when you've done some research in this section please ask other any specific queries For example http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=70617
Maybe Rob should start a Sub-Thread under Ferrari Discussion on what to look for when purchasing a Ferrari...? Just a thought. Mike in Kuwait
A 355 is great for a cherry-popper, provided the funds are there for maintenance. With all the help from this board combined with the fact that the problems with this car are widely known he could have a great experience. I am definitely not a rich dude, and I've loved every minute of owning my 95 355B. Yeah, it's got some quirks, but the 355 is a great model that has a bad reputation that is way overblown. I think it's the best deal around, bang for the buck. Just buy a good car, and be prepared to spend some $$ to maintain it.
+1, they really are a great car. Oh and just to point the OP in the right direction, F355 = stick shift and 355F1 = paddle shift.
Fantastic choice! My first also was a 355 F1, loved every minute of it. Maintenance isn't cheap, but many things you can fix once and be done with it (headers, for example). To help minimize the number of 'issues' go with the last model year, '99 - lessons learned from previous years were put in place by then.
Dan, say it isn't so. I suppose "roughing" it with just one F-car in the garage wouldn't be too terrible.
I had the sme excercise in last 12 months. so I got the opportunity of a short test of 328 and 355. and after the tests I suggest you to buy....between a 328 and a 355 , a wonderfull Modena 360. I confirm that 328 is the nearest historic car, and it is lovable, and also 355 is a great car with best Pininfarina dress.....but if you have not yet nade your choice it is because you do not love enogh one of these 2 3XX. so you have to overcome both and biy the better 360 ! ciao alex
All Fioranos were Spiders. If you would prefer the Fiorano would you rather have a Spider, I noticed you posted a link to a GTB
I've read somewere that firorano actually comes in GTB? I guess my preference is fiorano and if it's too much difference in price, then it's '99 GTB with F1. The reason being fiorano is lighter with more horsepower?? Pls correct me if I'm wrong here.
There was a "Fiorano" package available as an option in 98-99. This would mean there are GTB's out there with the package fitted, I have driven one imported to NZ from the UK. Great car. The cars fitted with the "Fiorano package" are not Series Fiorano cars.
how much stiffer is the suspension on the fiorano? heard its too stiff- can you control it via sport mode?
