That's definitely a guy from Toronto! You can tell by the accent.

What a loser! He's in desperate need of a date.

Just to put this one to bed...looks like I've been right all along: All the big hoopla in the papers was just meant to stir the pot and get some people (i.e. those that believe everything printed in newspapers and tabloids) all excited about nothing.

Here is a summary of the actual event:

    Quote

Paul McCartney took to the stage on the Plains of Abraham in Quebec City on Sunday night, despite grumbling from some Quebec nationalists about a British performer accepting a high-profile gig as part of the city's 400th anniversary party.

"Bonsoir les Québécois, bonsoir toute le gang," the former Beatle greeted his fans after he opened the concert by belting out the Wings song Jet.

The crowd erupted and McCartney and his band kicked it up a notch playing the Beatles' 1965 classic Drive My Car, Only Mama Knows and All My Loving.

Montreal band The Stills and Quebec City singer Pascale Picard opened the concert.

McCartney arrived in Quebec City late Saturday on his private jet at the city's airport where fans cheered as he smiled and waved to them.

Even more people gathered in Old Quebec as the singer-songwriter took a short tour of the city in the back of his vehicle before he stopped for dinner at a restaurant and checked into the Chateau Frontenac.

Fans started camping out in the parking lots near the venue of the free show in their cars on Friday. The gates opened at 6 p.m. ET. The concert began at 7:30 p.m., and McCartney took to the stage at 9:30 p.m.

Premier Jean Charest and Mayor Régis Labeaume sat in a VIP section. At a special behind-the-scenes ceremony, the mayor was to give a special 400th anniversary medal to McCartney.

Organizers had said they expected about 200,000 people to attend the concert.

The controversy over McCartney's visit seems to have faded.

Quebec painter Luc Archambault complained last week about the presence of music with English lyrics, but a few days later he said he "greatly" admired the singer and just wanted to inform him about Quebec's history and the challenges facing French-speaking artists in the province.

In response, McCartney told CBC on Thursday, "I think it's time to smoke the pipes of peace and to just, you know, put away your hatchet because I think it's a show of friendship."

    Unquote

As you can see, the concert could have been in Mississauga, Ontario or Naples, Florida with exactly the same result. Just because two idiots are trying to make a name for themselves and advance their "cause" does not mean that an entire population (i.e. "Quebeckers") should be judged or "condemned".

    I rest my case....:)

I still find it hard to believe that groups of people in Ontario or Florida would use his ethnicity (British) as the sole reason to publicly protest his concert.
Of course when its not an ethnic minority, the racism arguement is not valid, but thats exactly what it is.

Like I said, there are racists, biggots and just plain @$$%oles everywhere - and I mean EVERYWHERE - in the world, and while it is true that their target may not necessarily be a british superstar, it would most likely be someone of a different ethnicity than that of the racist, biggot or just plain @$$%ole...

True racism is when you collectively condemn a different ethnicity (or political entity), such as in "The Quebecois don't deserve Paul McCartney", because with this you are implying that 7 million people think like the two or 12 perverts (or who cares how many - they are a tiny minority) that started this commotion in the first place.

...and now let's continue in the spirit of the Fab 4: "Let it be" and "All you need is Love"

I don't understand.....how can inflation be 50% a day? That would mean a pack of cigarettes would cost $2000. How does that make sense?

How do people buy and sell things if inflation is that bad? The article said that after WW1 there was a similar problem.

Wonder what happen to the cars? - maybe they'll show up in a police auction or they'll put a couple of cherries on it and use it on the 400 on the weekends.

I would almost guranty those weren't own by the defendent.

On a side note, when I had 2 Porsches stolen years ago one of them showed up a year later when the police arrested a Russian guy living in a $3mm home, everything was stolen, including the appliances and the racks of clothes, the furniture. It was hilarious, best part was he was also collecting UI.

We had long bought a replacement. Thankfully I dodn't have to testify other then stating in a report that the gentlemen didn't have my permission to be driving my car.

    He got bail and disappeared.

    What a system.

"He had been living in Canada under the alias of Giuseppe (Joe) Scarfo, and had a bogus Ontario driver's license and health card, police said. Scarfo is his mother's maiden name."

Too bad he's missing the last 2 letters "NE" on his last name or else I could have had a long lost Scarfone relative ;) haha
