    Dave,

Are you referring to the interesting fuel filler door location. Is this a factory mod or done later?

    Regards,

    Art S.

PS. If it was manual, I'd find a way to buy this car.

+ Black-painted front grille and prancing horse badge.

    Looks like a nice car.

ding! ding! ding! We have a winner!

I saw this car when it was for sale in 2006 and thought the location was very odd. Notice how it also has a strange rear deck? Whats your guess as to why the filler is loacted there?

btw - here is another car where the owner cheaped out and put the wrong size TRX's on it.

If you read the current write up on the car he says the factory did the alterations at the request of the doctor that bought the car originally. The filler location was to add 1.8 gal of gas. He did not give a reason for the parcel shelf alteration. Also noted the sunroof as unusual. I have not noticed personally, is that in fact unusual? It is unusual to find a 928 that DOES NOT have a sunroof!

I like the car but he is about $3k to $5k to high on his BIN price probably... Still want a red one...or that yellow on in TN... Anyone hear anymore about that car. A friend from here on F-C has called the guy selling that yellow one several times to see about taking a look at it for me, but no luck...

Thanks for posting this one Dave! I went to a Ferrari breakfast today. About 12 Fcars, 5 928's, 1 SI E-type Jag, 1 Vanquish S. Very nice show! Not a single 550/575 or 400...one 456. No 328's. several 308's, 355's and 360's. One Dino and a 365GTC... Ummm...a few others too, I am blanking on them now...

I heard somewhere that the doctor had an earlier version with the stock 31 gallon fuel tanks and ran out of gas 17 miles from the nearest gas station. Right then and there he decided to order a new 400i with the high fuel filler and extra 1.8 gallon fuel capacity. He figured that, at 10 miles per gallon, he would make that gas station with a mile to spare the next time!!! ;-)

"I know! Instead of stopping for gas when I get low heres what the right thing to do is... I'll custom order a new $80,000 car that holds an extra gallon!"
Some people just have too much money.

Doesn't matter if its true, it makes a great read :)

I think that southern Kallyfornia must have a law that all cars are required to have shiny chrome wheels. It's a Bling Thing!

What ever the reason, the clean rear quarter looks good without the filler door.
