Talking to one of my clients today....... Seems he went swimming out to his boat yesterday and errantly left his BB in his shorts while doing so (he was texting on the dock). So he takes the Sim card and battery out....blows it off with a hairdryer for about 5 minutes, but it is still soaked under the screen, etc, and undoubtably inside. Then he covers it in a box of rice and seals it tight. White rice.....Uncle Bens..... The following day it was dry as a bone and worked perfectly. The rice acted as a desiccant. Imagine that...........
Guess others didn't know about this, to me this is old news, the best trick in the book, other than if you try to claim something, if the battery gets soaked, it dyes a part of it red, so the company would know and screw you over.
that is why when you buy your phone you find out where that little white dot is and cover it with tape. i did this right in front of my phone rep... he said... hey you can't do that! I said watch me... and what do you care anyways?
Sent this to my wife today. She has gone through numerous BB's (various reasons). I am awaiting her reply. I bet she'll want to know how long you cook the rice for!! John
I've seen this done with saltshakers before, but never thought to do this with a BB. Excellent idea for the next time I drop mobile electronics in the pool/commode/dog water/sink/puddle. edit: or Dr Pepper as my daughter did
Will try this tonight with my girlfriends phone. We were on the beach this week when it started raining and her phone got soaked
My brother tried it and it didn't work. My mom took her Blackberry kayaking and got it covered in water when she started doing those barrel roll things (lol). She was pissed and I suggested she try that. Didn't work so she bought a new one.
What did you use? You could try using Instant rice if you didn't already. That sucks taking it kayaking.
