    I've got a Linksys WRT54g (had it a long time now) - got a new macbook, and want to take advantage of the new N standard. I picked up a Belkin N1 Vision. It looks slick, but I'm not overly thrilled with the interface on it for configuring it. I was thinking about going with the Linksys Wireless-N Gigabit Router, or perhaps even the Mac Time Capsule, though I don't think it has MIMO...

    Anyone got an thoughts? Gotta be N, gotta have gig-e ports, prefer MIMO...

    I'm currently having the same router issue. I bought a Belkin Wireless-G Plus MIMO Router last week at Best Buy & I couldn't get configured to my MacBook Pro, the Belkin even said on the box that it wa recommended for Mac users. I even had a friend of mine come over that is an IT manager for a local advertising firm & he couldn't get it to work. He then loaned me his old Apple Airport Extreme & we couldn't get that configured either. He seems to think I need to change modems, there might be some sort of restriction or block from my cable company form using their equipment with other routers. I'm currently using a Scientific Atlanta that I rent from the Charter cable, their trouble shooting department hasn't got a clue & it doesn't help that most of my calls get routed to somewhere in the Philippines.

    My Linksys never had a problem, ever. Not once in 5 years. There is another Linksys I could look at, which I may well do. I like to keep tabs on my network, and when I pull the DHCP client table in this Belkin, it only shows my macbook - it doesn't show my other three PC's, the Wii, the xbox (when it's on) or the PS3 - all of which are up, running and have and IP assigned by the router. Not to mention I had to reboot the router and modem 3 different times last night to get it connectivity restored after it dropped out for no apparent reason. The whole deal seems shady to me... I could understand some issues on a router that cost $50, but on a companies flagship $150 router - not so much.

    I used to be a big Linksys fan, but after 2 failed WRT54's (1 DOA, 1 failed after 3 months), and some other things I was not liking, I swtiched to Netgear. Take a look at the WNR3500, it should meet your needs.

    I don't care for Belkin routers, never had good luck with those.

    Belkin sucks!! Been through so many of those damned things, they just keep crapping out.
    Buy a Linksys or Netgear. Netgear makes amazing products these days.

    New ones might be tough to find...

    From their website;

    "Notice Regarding Injunction

    Regrettably, the Court of Appeals has decided not to stay the injunction in the CSIRO v. Buffalo et al litigation during the appeal period. Although Buffalo is confident that the final decision in the appeal will be favorable and that the injunction will be lifted, Buffalo is presently unable to supply wireless LAN equipment compliant with IEEE 802.11a and 802.11g standards in the United States until that decision is issued. Click here for additional information."

    Even though they comment on 802.11a and g the same info comes up for all of their wireless routers.

    Too bad... because of your post I was interested in looking at their products.

    I've got a Netgear wireless router, and I'm seeing a deterioration in performance. The signal seems strong, but occasionally it drops. A bigger problem is that web pages are increasingly slower to load. I would normally suspect that the router's burning out, especially because when I connect directly via ethernet cable to the DSLAM, I've got much faster performance. What I can't figure out is why, even though the web pages load slowly, my emails (both out- and in-bound) don't seem to be slowing down. Any thoughts?

    BTW, this is the 6th or 7th wireless router I'm on in 6 years. Several Linksys, a D-Link and now this Netgear. Honestly, it's getting boring going to the store, buying another router, and spending hours on the phone installing, configuring and stabilizing the new router.

    Any help? Thanks,

    CW

    In case anyone is wondering... I ended up get a Linksys WRT610N. Solid Router... though not cheap for a consumer off-the-shelf router...

    I broke down and got a new one too: a Linksys WRT350N. I chose it because of the gigbit connectivity and the ability to connect an external storage device that can be accessed by all computers on the network. I got a pretty good deal at Newegg too. ;)
