    Hi all, read wspeer's comment about how quiet the forum has been, so I thought I'd chime in and ask what my fellow enthusiasts think. I have a 72 GT Giallo GT, approximately 67,000km on the odometer, engine complete rebuilt at 66,000km because I was freaked out by all the talk about sulphur valve guides (?). Spent about $17,500 plus the usual maintenance stuff.

    I am feeling guilty because the poor car has been sitting unused, though not unloved, and I am contemplating selling. I have what appears to be the original pouch, a bound copy of the manual, and somewhere, a CD of the service manual though God only knows where it is! Body and paint is 90%, 100% being perfect. There is a small bubble on the engine hood. Wheeles are original. Driver's seat has a small horizontal tear along the seam though I have been told this is easy to fix. Headliner needs new foam, and passenger side seat belt needs some attention.

    What would the car be worth? Will post some pics when I have more time.

    Ok, let's work backwards.

    Euro spec car.

    Start at a perfect, unmolested 67km car. no A/C no PW, no Daytona interior but otherwise in need of no attention.

    $160K. That's all books, tools, great paint, very clean interior with a fresh motor, a true no issues car.

    Now, your car needs paint and some rust repair. Minus $10K

    Seats need repairs - $1K maybe more

    No tools - Minus $5K

    incomplete books minus $3K

    No doubt there's gonna be other stuff turn up on the PPI, suspension or brakes, something for sure, minus $5 - 10K.

    Sooo...

    $160K
    -10K
    - 1K
    - 5K
    - 3K
    -10K misc.

    $133K is where I'd be on the car, but I'm famous for underpaying for Dinos.

    Here's what I think. You'd best hang onto it. Drive it at least once a month for 20 - 30 miles (not much of a chore!), get the headliner and other minor issues fixed, but don't sell it. Just my opinion. Oh, and you'll thank me later.

    and walking away from a good driver gts that was $80k, but the market was closer to $100k ;)

    I just sold mi 246GT 71 serie L, 2 month ago - the car was not perfect - it was a good driver, but need a lot of work to be 100% perfect.
    I sold it for around 120K, may be a little to cheep - but the car was sold the same day I put it for sale - and all other cars I see for sale is still for sale.

    Revisionist history!!! HOW DARE YOU!!!! :D (Please note the smiley, I'm not lookin' to make any enemies in here.)

    That "good driver" needed about $40K in work or more. The only thing it didn't need was paint. I think we all put the market at that time for a great car in the $120-130 range. It had a steering problem, the brakes didn't work, the interior was ratty the radio didn't work, the motor was rattling, it was a potential bottomless pit. (And yes, I probably still should have bought it.)

    It traded three times in three months without anyone doing anything to it and still didn't make it to $100K.

    Are tools and books (by books you mean owners manual) really worth $8000.00?

    not trying to revise history, i just couldn't remember the details and never saw the car in person. i didn't have the patience to try and search for teh thread

    try finding them on ebay, you will be surprised what they have sold for in the past, although bargains can sometimes be found

    Real original tools and the complete books/manuals/pouch for all our 70's cars have soared in value as they become harder to find.....

    That sounds like a reasonable budget and discovery and procurement may well take quite some time...IMO.

    it has been ages since a dino toolkit came up on ebay, value is hard to say, currently, but i suspect it would be a couple of grand easy

    I have sparepart catalouge (body & mecanical) plus Owners Manual (total 3 books) they are in near mint condition - is anybody interested before E-bay?

    interesting antenna configuration, but the car looks nice. any details about it's actual appearance?

    The current owner has had the car a few years, bought it locally from a guy who was very meticulous. I worked on the car a few times for the previous owner and remember it as being quite nice.

    It is available for inspection.
