I've had the priveledge of spending many years surrounded by, and driving, supercars, bikes, boats (and the odd fixed wing aircraft). This week we've been surrounded by & filming various ilumini including, Zonda, Countach, GT40, Enzo, Aston Vanquish, W12 Bentley, Spyker, 911, Veyron, etc etc. Then a 'lil ole 328 trotts out. Not only does it retain a seductive feminine quality, it has handsome presence, poise, balance, and the all important "GT boot/trunk". It looks like it's moving fast, even when parked. Like Sinatra & Elvis, has the best ever already happened ? The new cars are way too clunky and trying a bit too hard. I believe there won't be a finer, pure embodiment of a Gran Turismo than the 308 / 328, ever.

NO! There is no better sports car shape ever designed! It's the reason I'm buying a 328 Ferrari instead of anything newer. It's just the most seductive body design ever achieved in the "modern" era. I really considered a 355 for a while (tossed the 348 as a contender almost immediately) but although I could buy a 355, the 328/308 is just so iconic and GORGEOUS that I couldn't handle anything else.

    But that's just me. ;)

I think the best looking car that ever was or ever will be is an early 308 GTB.

    A yellow/black one

The 308/328 shape is timeless. It's amazing the original shape 30 years old. Like Bullfighter has said before, a great value. What else are you going to get for $30-$60k?

I have to agree. I think it's the simpleness of the car that makes it so attractive, and the fact that it's so well balanced. It's probably one of the best ferrari's to own and maintain. No engine out service, and dead reliable as long as you drive it.

I agree the GTBs are especially pretty in darker colors.
    If it was only 15% bigger...or I was 15% smaller... :)

Get a GT4, Russ. No problems whatsoever ;)

(or keep your Mondi... especially with this engine of yours)

    Hans

P.S. I have to agree that the GTB/S is easier on the eye than the GT4, which is somewhat of an aquired taste. Having said that, to me the ultimate 308 is the GTO. Not just because of te engine and all, but mostly because of the stretched wheelbase. Quite frankly, the GTB/S always give me the feeling that the body is just slightly too long for its wheelbase - a bit like a 1982 Lincoln town car, if you catch my drift... :D (ouch, blasphemy!)

Now that I think about it I think I like a 1981/82 red tan 308 GTSi best.

No tacky spoilers or black vents up front and a nice black a pillar - top on.

    but that's just me.

Yes - everyone is a little different, and right now, for me, my little car is the best GT ever. :)

    Rob,

Just a little advice. The transmission fluid you put on your car to give it that gleaming shine will eventually eat the paint off the car.
Just thought I'd let you know :)

There are two cars that I own primarily because of the beauty of their design. The are both, in my humble opinion, among the finest examples of what car design is capable of achieving, and both are absolute works of art -- the 308 and the Jaguar E-type (XKE). Anyone can go to design school, work with wind tunnels, and build a box on wheels. But only someone with the heart of an artist can sculpt something these these two cars.
