    Rumor is if Renault finishes the WCC season in fourth or better, Fernando stays at Renault. He is not driving like he does not want to stay at Renault, finishing fourth in Hungary and not giving way to his sometimes reported teammate.

    He'd be foolish to leave. Renault's on the upswing and its the team he functions best with.

    We can only hope he stays at Renault. I will buy a BMW if he moves to Ferrari.

    This is the second time he's held off Kimi for much of the race with a (not so) "inferior" car.

    There'll be words in the Renault pits tonight. :p

    Although I suspect that was good damage control from Ferrari for a change.

    Alonso and Renault did the right thing -- after Kimi's error got him off Alonso's wing, it was the opportune moment to dash into the pits to avoid another drag race to the pit exit.

    But Kimi put down an extra hot lap to make up the time, allowing him to get past the "wide" car.
    The Ferrari has a quicker pace on an open track, but the differential to just blow past isn't there.

    Kimi's got to figure out how to get around Alonso. (Although Shumi didn't find it that easy, either.)

    You really think that Renault is a mid pack team? Same could have been said for Ferrari in the past but class will out. Renault has too much expertise, money and experience to be down for long.

    Actually, i believe Renault don't have a big of budget as say McLaren, Toyota, or Ferrari, etc. In fact i think they spend the least out of the larger manufacturers, which means they are able to do more with less, and that is a good thing.

    I agree, I believe the car has moved up from mid-pack now.
    Having said that had Massa and Lewis still been in it a good 6th.

    5th place out of 10 teams in the Constructors points pretty much equals midpack........ what am I missing here?

    I believe what was meant was that Renault has the experience and financial ability to once again be a front runner, unlike the other midpack teams that have not been around long enough to have won a championship. Except for Williams, which just does not have the money to be at the front, again. Yet.

    You could also stretch and consider Renault to have become the top of the midpack food chain along with BMW.

    I don't doubt the ability of Renault to pull it all together--they've done it in the past. But what Fonzie knows is that success will fall squarely on his shoulders. Looking up the ladder, competition is extremely stiff from McLaren, Ferrari, BMW and Toyota. Honda is also due to improve, so basically the chances of finding a technical advantage over these teams is nil. Not that he's a slacker, but Freddo will have to fight harder than if he was driving for the silver or red. I'm sure he would love to bring glory back to Renault, but how long will he stick it out. As we all know, contracts in F1 are written on flash paper.
