What a jerk customer! Anyone who owns a Ferrari should obviously understand the ongoing nature of parts replacement (in the case of the battery). I'd get a lawyer and definitely post the serial number info so other potential future buyers are aware of the accident history. Have you tried running a Carfax check to see if the accident shows up?

I found out more info about the entire claim. Come to find out, the claim was for a total of around $17,000.-
The guy supposedly had his car towed and claimed that the tow truck driver burned up his clutch loading the car. Then they tried to load the car a different way and that is how the body damage occured (wow)
The ins. Co had already paid almost $13k to the owner for previous repairs before the car came to me.
Also teh ins. guy told me that they have a contract with the guy so that all checks go to him. That means that the bastard knew that when he picked his car up and I said the Ins. Co. was paying us directly.
If the Ins. guy knew that also he should have contacted the appraisal Co. and advised them of that since they requested us getting paid directly.
    More later( I am sure)

Gosh, he soaks the tow driver for a clutch and you for the battery.....a real prince of a guy you are dealing with here..

He's defrauding the insurance carrier for normal wear and tear parts, if I read all this correctly....hmmmmm?

A new development with my Boxer buddy. I didn't check my mail until right before I left the shop a short while ago.
There was a check in the mail and a letter that said "Explanation of charges". Since when does a client come up with that. Isn't that the shop's job.
Anyway, he started with the sum of $4250.- (and a copy of the ins. check), then he subtracted $1540.- and called it deposit (remember that was the bill for the additional work we did, not the ins. job) and then he subtracted $110.- for a battery ( which he already came and got a check for).
    Grand Total $2600.-

Then he said that I owed him to repair his AC. Apparently someone in my shop must have stolen his freon and there was gas missing, too.
I will contact him tomorrow and tell him to get his car in and I will gladly take care of that. Once the car is in my possession I will be back in the driver's seat and WILL NOT release it like my dumbass did last time.

    Wow,

You should never insult your mechanic, your lawyer, or your doctor unless you are positive you will never need him again. I remember when I got pulled over by a cop for an unsafe pass and then he saw me as a patient the next week. He must have thought I was Dr. "J." when I finished his rectal exam.

I think if I ever got my hands on that car again...there might be some future "unexplained" problems.

You know, I've fired F-car customers before when I had my shop. One was (is) a particularly well known 250 GTO owner...

Don't let him set you up if it comes in, have wittnesses to see it come in, impound it, better yet have your attorney there in the shop posing as a customer....then proceed to take him to court.

Don't cash his check, Karl. You don't want to "close" the deal before it runs it's course.

I hope so too, Karl!!! It'd be nice to give this jerk some fair treatment.

You are not alone in having a sh*tty client. A lawyer friend told me the other day that about 30% of his clients are not paying, and he still has to represent them as best he can. F**KIN' A-HOLES  !!!!

Well, he didn't bite. I had my office guy call him since I thought I may not be as polite. He said he would never come back since I was rude to him last time we talked. OK , was that right after he told me I wasn't getting my money. What a piece of crap. An attorney client of mine is picking up all the paperwork by friday so we can take him to court.

Good luck in court!!!! Don't forget to add in ALL of your time spent on this situation, and factor that into the $$ amount you sue this ****** for!!! A Ferrari mechanic gets about $110 per hour :D !!!

After it is all said and done, and becomes a matter of public record, then post this guys name, address & phone # on here for all of us to see....

When all is said and done, I don't mind doing that. Most people have worked hard for their right to own a Ferrari. I think this piece of crap is making others pay for his.
If I didn't need the money I'd tell him to go to hell with the money and his smoking ****box. When that car left it looked like a showcar compared to the way it looked when it came to me.

Wow, what a scumbag. Looks like he can't really afford the running costs of a Ferrari, so he tries to shaft anyone he can to pay the expenses for him. The insurance company should sue him as well for insurance fraud, I'd say.

I'm sure this guy can afford running a Ferrari...he is just a pr*ck.

Karl, good move not cashing the check...hopefully your lawyer friend can help end this.

And by the way ... $110/hour? Please don't give Karl any ideas. I like his rates just the way they are :)

$110 per hour is the special rate for the customers who are difficult to deal with :D.

I mailed all documents of to the Small Claims Court. I waited for the Ins. Co. first but they did nothing.
I am actually looking forward to court, not something anyone would normally say. The guy should look like a complete a**.
