I was wondering who makes the Stigs Helmet? Possibly interested in buying one.

Simpson Bandit a while ago, but the latest pics I've seen shows that it is a Simpson Diamondback now.

Who could be an 'American' Stig?

Scott Pruett springs to mind.....drove most everything successfully.

They are made by Simpson. But Top Gear changes the helmet a lot. Different models over the years and I think American and African Stig had different helmets too.

Simpson have been using the same type of design/style for years. I have been using Simpsons while the Stig was a young boy:D
My first Simpson was bought as a pair for my mate and my self nearly 20 years ago when we were customizing out bikes. Very classically distinctive, very Simpson. At the time they were classed as illegal to use on the UK roads, but that was then. Here's a picture of my mates so you can see how its changed very little over the years.
