Not sure if you understood me, on THIS (your) site, between posts, there was a google ads link to the fchat .eu site.

yes, I understood you clearly, everytime someone clicks on that ad I get money, from whoever placed that ad, but that same person is also who setup that site to forward back to here. Not sure if you understand. :)

I admittedly did not take the time to read much of the thread, so ignore if already covered.

Ability to click on a View All link to see the entire contents of a particular thread. The guys at garagejournal have this and I find it very convenient. You might check their site out to see what I mean.

I presume you got comments on the search function, which could use a LOT of help. As an aside, this morning, I tried to search for a member's post under their ID (where it says Find all posts by .....) and it no longer works. You get an error message: This forum requires that you wait 30 seconds between searches. Please try again in 29 seconds. even if you have not searched for anything previously.

Anyway, best Ferrari site on the web by far.

    Thanks.

    Alberto

ohh, you were being literal in your url, I thought you were talking about www.ferrarichat.eu. I took care of the other one, their ads won't appear as of tomorrow. Please report to me ASAP when companies advertise on the Google Ads that are our competition or that of our sponsors, easy to filter them out. thanks.

Suggestions I've made before, and that are worth making again:

    A. Allow five to fifteen minutes after making a post for correction without getting a notation to that effect.

    B. Incorporate a very simple radio button system into the posting interface that would allow for:

    -Bolding of typeface.

    -Italicization of typeface.

-a selection of smileys that could be simply clicked on to add them to the text at the cursor position.

There's no need for different type faces or sizes, etc. Simple is beautiful.

Incorporating bolding and italicizaton capabilities would eliminate the need to use all caps..."SHOUTING"...for emphasis.

    Hey Rob,

Any thoughts of an auto care/detailing section?

You know I have been thinking about what would be nice.

I have visited other car forums and the one thing that I like that some have, which we don't, is a dedicated picture section and video section. The only thing you can post in those sections are pictures or video. No text just the visuals. Plus they have thumbnails of each so that you can enlarge or shrink the pictures. It would be way cool to have a section with nothing but Dino pics, or a 330 section, P4 section, F1 race cars, 550, 348, California, etcetera, etcetera. Each picture and video section could be contained in the model subsections that are on F-chat already. So in the vintage section you could have the pictures for that one in one place, and then the GT4, 308, 328, Mondial group would have it's picture and video section, and the Super Car area it's picture section, and so on.

The reason I thought of this is, sometimes it's fun to just rummage through pictures of a particular modal and not have to read anything, but just enjoy looking at the pictures, or watching the videos. Click on picture/video and then have a look at it, then the next, and the next, and................
I dunno how difficult it would be to have that set up, but I think it would be pretty cool. Plus you could have it only available to the subscribers. Visitors would be able to see the tiny thumbnails, but they wouldn't be able to to enlarge them. Same deal for the video, you'd be able to see the thumb for the vid, but only be able to watch it if you were a subscriber. Kind of like how we have posting and viewing of pics in the threads now.

Anyway, it's just a thought Rob.

Speaking about photos, I remember in the previous version of Ferrarichat, one could embed photos within the text field and I loved that feature, especially in a technical thread, as it made for an easy step-by-step procedure. As an example:

    "Here we have so-and-so:

    (picture)

Take the part, disassemble it, but remove this part first:

    (picture)

    Etc..."

Not only was this good for technical threads, but was great for car-show photos too.

With the current forum set-up, having all of the photos grouped together in a single box below the text makes it harder to describe what are in the photos, photo-by-photo (like: "...in photo #32, there is a 1960 blah-blah in original condition..." and here I am counting 1, 2, 3, 4, 5...). And I find it time-consuming to add captions within my photos in Photoshop, especially if it would need a couple of statements to describe what the photo is about.

Someone figured out a way to do that here, but not that user friendly, basically have to put tags in with the attachment id. Do a search or maybe someone can post the thread how to do that.

    Rob,

This may have already been suggested, I haven't read the thread through...

Would it be possible to make the 'button' items...the links for everything, slightly larger... especially for us old guys? :D

I agree, this is on my list. I think we are getting rid of the showroom section and will have picture functionality like you describe in each model's forum.

Dear Rob, I think it is all ok.
I'm here from only two months, may be someone should have new ideas.
I am not a Ferrari owner, just a 50 years fan.
I'm only a modeler and some of you is helping me in my project, a lot of kind persons and outstanding knoweldge of the Ferrari world.
May be nice to group threads under a specific model, to avoid too many threads (as for istance in the Vintage section).
Thank you again and best regards,
    Alessandro

On another forum I participated in they had a system that allowed users to give Kudos for good advice. They actually call it Karma. You can then weigh the information provided by a user against the amount of Karma they have. It works like this. I post a question, several people respond with advice, I try a few of the ideas that were provided and I discover that one of the users provided exactly the information I needed to solve my problem. I go back to the post and click the +1 Karma button and his Karma increases by one. Over time it becomes clear who knows there stuff and who doesn't.

I would not allow a moderator to add posts trying to stir up a pot after you have closed a thread. This seems like a poor way put out a fire. IMO

If someone wars on a "competitor's" behalf in a turf war the "competitor" has declared on our turf, especially under these circumstances where pursuits against F-Chat are persistent to say the least, then I will pull no punches, and I will take prisoners.

To that end, problemchild banned for 2 years, reason to show user: How does Gus taste now?

Have a tally for most posts monthly.
When I look at the overall tally for posts since day one, it looks daunting.
Some might juice up the daily activity trying for most posts in a month.
    PS; "+1"s dont count.

I don't agree with anything the forum in question has done but I was under the impression Rob closed the thread to allow things to cool off not keep fanning the flame. I haven't been a member long enough to know the relationship between Mods and the forums owner but in my business if I said I was putting an end to something and an employee continued it I would consider it disrespectful.
