How much is a Lusso worth? (saw my first one today)

I am not familiar with the vintage market at all. I was at the Aston Martin of NE dealershhip today, and they have quite the collection of vintage cars (most arent listed on thier website) One of the sales reps took me out back to their storage garage to show me some Vantages they had in stock. The sales guy says, "want to see something cool?" He brought me over to the corner and there was a 250 Lusso.

Honestly, a year ago I didnt even know this car existed. I saw it in a magazine last year and ever since I first saw it, I loved it. In the flesh it is just as beautiful as the pics. They also had another vintage Ferrari there under a cover. I didnt see what it was, nor would I know what it was if I even saw it. The salesman referred to it as a "4 cam" if that helps.

Unfortunately, I forgot to take a pic, but I believe I will be going back to the dealership on Monday, and will try to get a pic and VIN.

Vintage Ferraris are beautiful; too bad Ill never be able to afford one

I think that you could get a destroyed basketcase for $400k. A nice driving/restored Lusso will cost $800k these days.

 

You know, if you can't afford one anyway, just enjoy looking at it. The Lusso is my pick for the single best-looking car ever made. But, mechanically it's not all that sophisticated so I'd say if you're looking to save up for a great 60's exotic to drive you can certainly do better for a lot less.

Not taking anything away from the Lusso, one of my favorite cars. Just telling it how I think it really is.

Last real sales I've heard were in $400k area, although asking is in the $700-$800k range, has anyone truly seen any sell at that number?

Real sales only, lets leave the tricky sales people trying to influence the market with alleged sales out of this and those alleged auctions (Monterey) as there is a LOT of documented trickery there of cars selling and then not.

 

"4 cam" was nearly certainly a 275 GTB

 

The last one I can remember sold for $2.3 million.

 

Yes for styling & design the Lusso has got to be not only on of the most beautiful Ferrari's, but one of the most beautiful cars made.

 

I doubt many people believe that the sale price of the Steve McQueen Lusso is indicative of Lusso prices generallly.

 

Manyof the real nice cars never make it to the market and are sold at higher prices. The auction houses only get what is handed to them. Did RM sell one at the Ferrari auction in Italy?
