    the kids who saw him in Springfield IL were on the news here in STL last night, they said Sir Paul was really cool about being recognized/autographs/pics. Apparently he and his mysterious lady friend are driving across America in a green Mercedes GL, not bad but definitely "slumming" for a rich and famous rock star.

    My Uncles used to bring Clark Gable here to hunt Pheasant back in the 40's and 50's, and nobody paid them any attention.

    Same goes for Texas. Rumor has it, in the prime of his carreer, M.Schumacher was visiting Texas Motor Speedway and did the Richard Petty school to get a run around the track in a stock car. Apparently, no one recognized him.

    I am familiar with the places mentioned in the first link. They are both right off of the Interstate. A week before the Beatle sighting, Obama popped in to the Bell restaurant between campaign meetings with Missouri Senator Claire McCaskill, who is from the area. The Bell is about the greasiest spoon you can imagine. It would be the last place you would imagine the likely next POTUSA to show up.

    The gas station across the street, well if it were for sale would be listed as "A Handyman's Dream". Definitely a depressed part of the town. Perhaps that is why he asked directions there, Paul popping in to the local interstate gas station megaplex probably wouldn't be a good idea if you just want to get in and out. His destination was curious too. Doesn't his GL have nav anyway?

    We have been to Bennet Springs several times, it is a trout hatchery and fly fishing area. Popular with locals and pulls some enthusiasts from St. Louis and Kansas City too. Again, the why would he want to go there? It is just strange. On a weekend there will be several hundred people spread out over a couple of miles, so it isn't like he would have had the place to himself.

    I know Paul isn't hurting for money, but he should have came previously with his ex-wife. He would have gotten half off of a set of waders...

    This is a true story, except he was driving with a friend borrowed Ducati's from a Ft. Worth dealer and happened to go by TMS. The Richard Petty laps were going on and they tried to sign up, but no one recognized them and were told to back of line so they left. I actually saw a week later those two Ducati's with his signature. They removed the tanks and lacquered to save, not sure where they are today, probably still with that dealer.

    Paul's new GF is too skinnny for my taste; I like some meat.

    However, he's doing the smart thing for a change by staying in his own financial strata.

    Rumor says he's a regular in Colorado during the spring months, riding his Harleys with his watch making buddy Martin Braun.... According to rumor he keeps a place just west of Salida in an exclusive private area there... A place that is horse friendly as a matter of fact. He's also shown up for some Karting at http://www.thetrack.us a couple of times...

    Rod Stewart, Rachel Hunter and Sting used to be regulars at the Grand Lake Lodge during regatta week, but that's no more these days.
