I was replying to Rob Lay's post about the trouble being started by Gustan, and I only replied that he seemed like a nice guy, and agree that he doesn't seem like one to cause any trouble-

Gustan does seem like a good guy, but it also seems that gustan is writing about the demise of fchat on several forums.

But posting away isn't going to change the facts...and I guess the real question relates back to my previous post, does Ferrari care, and will they do anything about it?

I can post in several forums that I won the $100mil lottery, but it isn't going to make it true....hmmm....unless.......ahhh....I'll be right back!

I do not know Gustan but the northwest suburbs of Chicago is such a small community. I remember running into him several times and he was always so nice. I knew who he was but he did not know who I was. Once my car had a flat tire and he pulled over during rush hour traffic and warned me that it is dangerous for me to be fixing my flat. He gave me a ride to the police station and called D and R Towing and had the tow truck driver replace the tire with a spare, I asked D and R how much and he said Mr. Cho took care of it. I wanted to thank him but he was gone already. There is always two sides of the story but Gustan is the type of person who wants to be known as being an A$$ hole but he cannot fool people like me that he is a tit. I can bet all the money I have that he had nothing to do with hurting this forum. Just my two cents.

I'm sure that if Ferrari plans to try to force Ferrarichat.com to shut down, it would be done by attorneys. I would not worry about it until then.

One last statement about Gus and I will quit altogether. Gustan gave ten $10,000.00 scholarships to needy kids and had the Franklin Park Police Department be the trustee for the grants. Chief Randy Peterson, who has since retired, was the person in charge. He did not want to be known who he was but I found out and am spilling my beans. I am done writing now and made my point and they are all facts . The number for the Franklin Park Police Department is 847-671-8204.

I don`t think there is anything to worry about...rob has a good relationship with SpA and has complied with them when asked to do so.

I think that e-mail response "Ferrari looking into it" was more generic relating to infringments by many groups and Ferrari is "looking into" copyright infringment globally. Ferrari has always been very protective of the mark and when they see abuses, they make it known without delay and honestly do not rely on compaint letters to take action.

I don`t see any abuse with this site, It can be informative and it really is a good feedback tool for Ferrari.

    Regards, Jim

I believe the GT40 case was a bit different - when Ford shut down their GT40 racing program at the end of the 60s, they sold all spare parts for the cars to a person who was going to run a maintenance and service operation for GT40s - and they also sold the name to him! 35 years later, they asked him to give the name back, and he asked for compensation. Ford refused to pay him a dime to buy "GT40" back from him, so he refused to let them use it.

Rob, I'm mostly a lurker, but a lifelong Ferrari fan, and I enjoy this site and the contributions of its members very much. On the other hand, I think it's pathetic that Ferrari doesn't make it's online configurator public so that Ferrari enthusiasts who are lacking the means to purchase could still dream a little. This is the sort of nonsensical, heartless corporate action that would make me subscribe here to show my support. Best of luck.

Gustan might be a good guy otherwise, but Gustan will admit himself and has publically on the other forums that he is trying to pay FerrariChat.com back for his ban. Gustan is the one that sent me Ferrari’s response himself. So good guy otherwise maybe, but a fact he’s causing problems and trying to hurt our community along with Gene Burns and Perry Cowart.

That might be possible between Gustan, Gene, and Perry considering their past antics.

However, I'm confirming with the user that started all of this and who I have talked on the phone with and made peace that the response he got from Ferrari was the same. It does appear all of the responses are a form letter from [email protected]. This individual would not be involved with those other guys in a practical joke like this and doesn't even know Gustan except by email.

I prefer to get my fix with her clip reviewing the 360 CS:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RDcbNvRq0X8

There's an excellent use of the word naughty at 1:20 and you get to see her oh face about :10 seconds later.

Another great comment comes at the 2:10 mark when she says "so there I was, happily playing with my gearbox".

It's real easy to manufacture an email and only slightly harder to spoof where it came from. I have a feeling a bunch of guys are sitting somewhere having a good laugh watching this thread grow by the minute with all the armchair speculation & analysis.

Nissan computers apparently spent over $2.5M in legal fees to defend its name against Nissan Motors. The computer company has prevailed on most fronts but at tremendous legal cost.

I still don`t believe there will be any problem and the site will continue. Ferrari SpA has for years been monitoring all the media and they know what goes on. I don`t believe a letter from a disgruntled person will make any difference.

Then again....does this mean I have to change my user name?

Having had some more time to think about it, I am now completely sure.

It did, along with this whole topic, in fact - suck.

I am sure that many of us will remember the names mentioned (of the people who started this junk) for a long, long time.
