With that in mind how did GERMAN tuner Koenig get away with creating Testarossa depleted of the side strakes?

No doubt the GTO is the better mid-engined car.
The Miura is the seminal design that lead to the outrageous cars that followed. Countach, Bugatti Veyron, Pagani etc. IMHO beauty must have subtlty and nuance, qualities that are largely missing in the Miura and its progeny. The GTO has a basic beauty (from the 308) combined with a brutal functionality, qualities that the others lack.
I still say that for purity of design the Mangusta is the most beautiful mid-engined car yet.
Some like Pam Anderson, some Sophia Loren ;)

Oh yes, apparently government officials have the time to think of everything. We wouldn't want rodents, birds and small dogs getting swallowed by GTOs either...

I will say that I agree with everything youve said as it relates to a Miura P400 or maybe even some early P400S.

But not when it comes to an SV.

My SV remains cool even in a California summer and I drive it during that season frequently, its rebuilt brakes are as good as any from the 70s era, the SV chassis is as rigid as any from that era, and all the controls and gauges are quite precise in fact. I would be happy to demonstrate, as I often do!

The best solution though, is to have both.

I believe an late 80's/early 90's issue of Road and Track alluded to the fact he is/was a tuner at the time, not a manufacturer. But really I am not German, and can't state it as fact, just what the American car mags of the era wrote.

On February the 20th 2004 Speed Lab recorded this GTO on the dyno, post fuel & spark mapping, using normal pump gas and 12-13 psi of boost. It produced a consistent 414bhp at the rear wheel.

    Ferrari rates it at 400bhp...

Many many thanks for your generous ofrer to test your MIURA. Will be a great pleasure.
Efectivily my MIURA was an S last generation ( 4139 red/tan), with still lot of birth defects .
I never drove an SV. I celebrate that your SV was so improved regarding the 400 LP and to the S. And regarding having a MIURA SV and a 288 GTO in the same garage of house , no doubt is an excellent idea !!!!!! Possess and enjoy two of the cars most sexy and brutal that have hever made.

Your P400S was delivered to Italcar for Pancaldi one fine day in June 1969 but it was as a Series One S so it was not originally fitted with ventilated disc brakes (solid discs were fitted) and a plethora of items that make the SV just so much better. I have not turned down a request for anyone to drive in any of my cars yet, time permitting.

The 288 GTO though, is something else :)

The screens also go down on the lower opening as well. German Daytonas had these over their openings. While I was cruising through FNA's stock they had, of all things, the german screens in stock so I purchased a set just for yucks. I have no idea, nor did they, why Ferrari North America would have them in stock.

As for rodents, I once had a skunk climb up under the GTO and sleep on the gas tank ledge. Lucky for him/her, and me, I looked into the engine compartment before starting the car. I do this routinely when I park cars in the driveway as I seem to l live next to Wild Kingdom with all manner of creatures stopping by. Warm cars are mighty tempting.

GTO # 56337 will be offered by RM Auctions in their "Automobiles of London" sale at Battersea Park on October 29, 2008.

This car was delivered new to my fellow countryman Mr Alf Gooding and was registered on UK plates B993 DUH when his posession.
