may be a very odd question..lol I love my 348 first of the modern day f-cars....gets the wow factor wherever i take it...so am i justified to spend an extra 30+k on the 360 is it that much more visually appealing and most importantly is it any more reliable?Cheers guys a pic of the 348 and duke Image Unavailable, Please Login
I just traded my beloved 348 for a 360. As much as I love the 348, it's still a great car - I don't care what people say - the 360 is fantastic. Every newer model will always impress more and jumping a model (355) makes the performance increase seem all that greater. The 360 not only performs wildly but the lines and shape of the car are wonderful. You won't regret.
I hate to say it guys, but of the 308,, 328, 348, 355, 360, and 430, the 348 is the least desirable one... in fact some 328s sell at higher prices than the 348... and it ain't the 1st of modern ferraris... the 355 is the one with a big leap over the the 328 and 348... surely go for it, and you should see a huge difference in EVERY aspect...
Definately...but it will be well more than 30K more. I had a 348 and loved it....love my 355 even more....drove my buddies 360 and loved it.....was out with a 430 on Sunday and well...you guessed it!!
I fully agree. I went from a 348 to a 360 this January. The 348 was awesome but the 360 is just "more". Are you able to take a 360 for a road test?
dude youre smokin crack....i get the "wow' factor wherever i go in my 348. It's HARDLY the least desirable one. I agree taht the 355 and up have more performance tho. my plan is to keep my 348 and get a 360 or 430 to compliment it
I think of the jumps made here.. the 360 is the biggest leap.. obviously the looks and performance and overall package make it the modern car.. with the 355 and 348 being more the older modern designs.. (that said the 355 would be a nice car to own in a spider for summer runs)
thats not true at all... the 348 is right behind the 355 in my view, as far as desirability. If you get a mint 348ts (or Speciale *even better*) it will do much more than a 328 would. 348 gives the retro 80s features to a 90s modern, perfected design... whats not to like? best of both worlds... infact that is what makes the 355 all that much better, since its based upon it. 360 is a great Ferrari (i've only driven the CS, not the base) but its hardly provides the same magic the 348/355 had (still have). 360 is quick (not very fast) loud and most probably the best aerodynamically designed v8 model, but its also recent, and metrosexual looking when compared to a classically designed 348/355. That sort of design quality (348/355) has been left behind imo ... just look at the California.... pathetic. Looks more like a Honda S4000 (if its a 4litre v8) .... to answer the OP sure its a good move, if you have the means to do it without taking any hits (at all.) If you want to be secure to not take too much of a financial hit, a 355 wouldnt be bad either (a mint one with a good maintenence history.) bored with the 348, the 360 will surely bring you a new taste and experience. 355 is as similar to the 348 as the 993 is to the 964 (porsche) *although, the 348/355 similarities may be far less obvious*... so you make the final judgement.
I recommend you test drive both the 355 and 360. When I did so, I felt that the 355 was not enough of a jump in handling and acceleration, whereas the 360 was a stunning leap. Everyone's opinion will vary, so the test drive is important in helping you decide if the price differential is worth it. Lou
I've owned 2 348s, and one 360. They are totally different cars. The 348 is slow compared to the 360. Big time. It's also more reliable, doesn't have issues with the emissions controls like the 348. It's (the 360) a vastly improved car. Having said that, the visual is better with the 348, too bad that the performance didn't match up. If you can afford it, and can deal with the appearance, by all means get the 360. Art
The performance of the 360 is huge compared to the 348, but how much is enough? I drove the 348 on Friday night for about 200 miles. It was great! It will be interesting to see how the 360 fares mechanically after being on the road for 15-20 years (my car is a 1989). So far they have been very reliable. As far as what you should be driving, it really depends on what you are after. If the 348 has gotten boring, go for the 360! I would also hardly say the 348 is the least desirable of the models mentioned earlier. I really like the look of the 348, and it has been very reliable in my limited experience. It also has plenty of 'go' for my taste. But if you can swing it for $30k difference that would be very tempting. BT
As many people mentioned here, you're going to have to drive it to see if it's justified. It's all personal taste. Again, most people here have said both cars are great - the 360 is going to give you better build quality, it will be tighter feeling - as it should it's much newer, and better performance. For me performance is just one factor when deciding on a car. It's the overall package that I look for. I think the 360 is a great-looking car, but I do prefer the 348/355 design and footprint. You'll have to decide what's best for you. As far as the comment about the 348 being the least desirable of the 308,328,348, and 355 clan - I agree to the point where it's almost fact. But what does that matter. The 348 had issues when it was introduced that the other models did not. Long term I don't think it will hurt the 348, because the majority of the issues can and probably were corrected ... but for the next 10 years the stigma will stick with the 348. Not saying the 348 is the next Dino, but a that car also had a stigma attached to it - so who knows what will happen down the road. Being the least desirable does not mean that the car won't turn heads, or people won't enjoy driving it. It simply means if you were going to plunk down your cash and wanted to minimize your loss, and maybe even have the car appreciate the 308, certainly the 328, and the 355 (maybe) would be better options. The 355 over the past 3 years has certainly lost more value than the 348, but it was still deprecating and it's probably close to being done.
I had similiar feelings. I had a 348 + Duke. Loved them both. I did the 355 Rims like your 348 and much, much more upgrades to my 348 to get it the way I wanted it. Then an unexpected event occured and my 348 was gone. I went looking for another 348, but it was just too hard to find and I didn't want to go through the trouble of upgrading another one. So I thought about a 355 and 360, but couldn't find the one I wanted. So I ended up ordering a 430 from the dealer. Yes the 430 is faster and overall a better built vehicle than the 348. But there was always something about the 348 that 'speaks' my name. If I could get a New 348 or a new 430/360, I would get a new 348. Plus I've never really cared too much about the performance aspects of these cars as I'm so use to the power behind a sportsbike. After coming off the Duke, it makes driving the 430 feel mellow.
From the service and maintenance standpoint, the 360 is one of the best F-cars made. Infinitely better (and less expensive to own and maintain) than the 348 (and I have a variant of the latter and have driven dozens of both...) My next car is a 355B, though. Looks and sound, looks and sound...
Like anything else...they are all great One is not better or worse, just different. I miss some aspects of my 348...but do like my more modern 355! Classic/modern looks and the sound is ridiculous Toying with the idea of a 360 next? If you could afford it go for the 430...if not enjoy what is in your budget and you will be very happy!!
Cheers guys.Really not sure,my Dad says he prefers my 348 because he likes the smallness of it,the 360 looking too big and wide..i get his point are there a big size difference has anyone got the dimensions of both? PS 30k in the UK is £30000 The 360 is starting from around £46000.
