ROFL @ 'queer' You coooooont   The gear change is fine Phil, the more I drive the car the better it gets & I can change the gears real smooth now using the paddles You're more than welcome to take mine out for a drive if you want, just don't offer me any sexual favours in return roflmao
well, I knew I'd get some 348 owner upset but I stand by my words... and the aftermarket prices speak for themselves... I do agree that the 348 has got looks, and they are a change from the 308/328 curves, but mechanically it was a disappointing car... no true upgrade from the 328... the real jump came with the 355... in addition, there were lots of quality control issues with the 348... I like it only because it has the side vents similar to the testarossa, but performance engine was it was just a tweeked 328... now the 355 went into another dimenssion...
I notice comments about the 348 being least desirable and the 360 being overrated are from non-owners.... Yes the 348 is tiny compared to the 360 (or any other modern exotic) http://www.midwestscc.com/viewphoto.php?id=2870&sort=date&order=asc
Dear Deluded, No, I`m not upset!! You do not know what you are talking about so cannot upset any longterm 348 owner!! The 348 was a completely different car from the 328, and sorry it was the first of the modern Ferraris. It was the first Monoque body V8, the 355 is a modified 348!! Yes, they had problems, but that is Ferraris p**s poor build control rather than a major fault with the design. I have yet to find a 328 that can keep up with my Spider..!! I suggest you read a bit more about these cars before trying to tell people how to suck eggs..!!! Phil.
This is crap. Many journalist have talked smacked about the Countach, yet Phil Hill found it incredible and great, and Derek Bell found little faults to make it a really great car. My point is clear.
Hi, I never said anything about journalists, but Derek Trotters missing post did!!! Is that what you meant to quote?? Regards, Phil.
I'm a little lost now, but don't see the post that I was answering to. And it was in response to the journalist more than the poster.
There are guys buying vintage F cars for 15Mil!!!!! Buy what you want STOP THE WHAT DO YOU THINK CRAP!!!!!
One point that hasn't been brought up yet...Wasn't the 348 the last car without power steering? I'd thought the power steering in the 355 took away some of the fun. Never drove the 360 (I'm sure they made vast improvements to power steering feel over the 355) so not sure if that might be something to look for during your test drive. I just find the old cars more fun (Dino, 308, 348) made going 90mph feel fast. Now 360/430 can make 120mph feel like you're going 60mph... too much refinement, too many electronics
I understand you, plus these new cars are so fast that there isn't anymore the running from 1st to a high gear hitting redline, next thing you know is that you're in jail.
If your saying your 348 is worth 18k pounds and you need to spend 3x that amount to move up then no. Stick with your sorted 348 which looks great by the way. Love the saying "Rather drive a slow car fast, than a fast car slow"
not exactly a 360, but yesterday I had my friends 430 spider, that car blew the doors off my 348 in everyway, however if you want a classic f car I would keep your 348 or buy a 355.
Phil, last year I contemplated getting a 360. A lot of guys I knew had one and they kept raving about it and telling me to get one. I was never a big fan of them initially, but over time the 360 grew on me. So one day I went down to Maranello in Egham and took a manual 360 modena out for a test drive. It's a nice car. Comfortable and easy to drive. Something that the wife could easily use. It was on the way back to the dealership that I decided it wasn't the car for me. It was too easy to drive....too bland. For me, the 348 is a raw brute of a car and that's what I love about it. Besides, I don't use 100% of the 348's performance anyway. I'm not going to say that the 360 is a bad car, just that it wasn't the car for me. My opinion is based on the fact that the 348 was the first Ferrari I ever drove and owned and so it's become a yardstick for me as to what a Ferrari should be like. I'm sure if I had driven a 360 first, then I'm sure I would have loved it and got it. It's all down to perspective. So instead of getting a 360, I spent my £££ on upgrading and modifing my 348. Although a 360CS in black would be nice The other thing is that you won't lose much more in depreciation on the 348. F360's are hitting £40K now. Good 348's are hard to find with lots of people seeking them out. The 348 will be a much rarer car than the 360. How often do you see them compared to 360's. I can't really be bothered to disseminate your post so I'll just sum it up by saying..........what a load of bollocks.
