We had to let our 11 year old greyhound go on Wednesday.....we were with her when she slipped away. We were so lucky that she allowed us to share in her life.

When we adopted her in 2001, I created the race team name FastHound Racing for my 911 Porsche Club 911 race car and had that name on my windshield vinyl sun visor, on the tow vehicle, on the trailer, and on hats and sweatshirts. And it's my name on this and other forums.

As the saying goes..."If there are no dogs in heaven, I don't want to go."

I just wanted to share some photos as I'm sure there are other dog owners/lovers on this forum. Here's a few of our sweet little Greta.

    We will miss her terribly.

    Kevin--

So sorry to hear about Greta. She's beautiful. I know too well the emotions you feel at a time like this--take comfort in the happy life you gave her and the love and joy she provided you.

So sorry to hear your story, so sad.

I tend to believe what C S Lewis wrote about animals in heaven, very compelling argument and very comforting as well.

So sorry to hear it - dogs are wonderful animals and better than humans in so many ways.

Always remember that you rescued her and gave her a wonderful life. I am sure she was as happy to spend her time with you as you were to spend your time with her.

As I type this, my brothers Italian Greyhound is lying at my feet in my office (he comes in on Fridays). Those who've never had a dog are missing out - they are wonderful creatures.

    She was a lucky hound.

The bond of that special heart dog.

I've been lucky enough to have had five adopted greys. Soon I hope to adopt another or two.

I know just how you feel, it is amazing how close you can get to a pet. I had a dog named Sammy when I was small, loved him more than anything in this world. When he died, I thought it was the end of my world.

Awww, I'm so sorry to hear about your Greta. It's so not fair that dogs have such short lives. My Maltese is 14 and I'm dreading when her time comes. She is my best friend. I love the last pic of Greta with her legs up. That is so funny!

Thanks so much to everyone for your warm thoughts. My wife and I really appreciate it. The house is still way too quiet, but each day gets easier and we have great memories of her to make us smile.

Now go spend some time with your pet(s)!

    Thanks again,
    Kevin

After my Cockers was gone, I said that I would never get another pet, well that lasted a week. They can never be replaced by life is so much better with them.
