just posted this on the tech q/a as well. Last week, I had the brakes done at Lambo Dallas. The rotors were fine and the pads were changed. This week, there is a loud squeal each time I brake, not at the beginning, but as the car comes to a stop. Any suggestions? Should the brakes be squeeling after pads were just replaced? 2000 Modena. please advise
Could be several things, hanging caliper, debris, new pad seating with rotor. Give the shop a call or take it back and let them have a look. Are they OEM pads?? If they are I am suprised they are making noise. Robert
Porterfield pads will not squeek + less dust. OEM Ferrari pads squeek + dust. You may want to swap ...
+1 on the Porterfield! I am using them and they have less brake dust and zero noise, plus they are half the cost of the OEM pad. Pretty good track pad as well! Robert
Sometimes the pad transfer layer of the old pad is really stubborn when changing over to a different compound and can cause noise, judder and general unpleasantness. If the dealer changed out the pads with the same compound and you are experiencing noise, try an aggressive bed-in procedure. If they are still making noise, take sandpaper to the rotor faces inside and out and really scuff them up good or have them skimmed on a brake lathe taking a few thou off. If that doesn't quiet them down, buy our Magic Pads. They don't make noise, or dust for that matter. They also have the wear sensors installed in them. You can get them from Ricambi, your title sponsor! If that doesn't work, sell your car... HA Martin
