Only happens once in a while, but I'll get a not-too-faint squeal (with the window dropped) from over my left shoulder. Doesn't do it all the time, and generally after it's been run for a bit. Fan on the left side coolant radiator?.....or?

..............could be the LH fan, they do have a habit of shearing the fan shaft drive pin.... :(

Thanks! Makes sense given the noise. Best checked from below the car? Do you need to pull the fan down to repair should it be the culprit?

It is a fairly involved job, though can be done with hand tools :). One must jack the car, remove the left rear wheel and remove forward section of wheel well liner. All fan related bolts/screws are accessible from there.
There are a few sellers of the spal fan but you will have to swap the factory connector to the new fan. So make sure polarity is in the 'pull orientation' then solder those wires ;).
    Reassemble in reverse..............

Finally got around to pulling the wheel and removing the wheel well liner to access the fan. Sure enough, the pin was sheared. Don't laugh, but as a temporary fix until the new Spal fan arrives from the link F355Spider provided, I put some Mighty Putty (yes, the stuff that Billy Mays hawks on TV) on the fan shaft. Damned if it didn't work perfectly?! However, having such a ghetto fix on the 355 would just drive me nuts, but as an interim fix it was perfect. I can always keep the fan as a spare, 'cause if it's happened once.....

I also took the opportunity to spray some Simple Green on the suspension bits, chassis, etc and get it all nice and pretty.

    Cheers,
    Bo

    You bet, Pap.

BTW, the Mighty Putty stuff is all that it is advertised to be. Cut-off a piece, knead it together for 2 minutes, and it provides a near permanent fix. It sets-up in 60 minutes, too. I recommend you salt some away in a tool box for a bunch of reasons.

Good to hear decent feedback on that stuff. I think I will try it out now. :)

Here's the latest. Save your money: The SPAL fan from 'Street Rods by Michael' worked perfect! The fan and the blade housing is exactly the same as the OE Ferrari bit....except it's $125...not $300! And shipping was free- they had it to me within 3 days!

You'll need to retrieve the mounting ears from the OE fan (pop right off), and then spice the wiring connector from the OE fan onto the new fan (different connector). Other than that, just bolt it in and then listen to the sound of the fan purring away over your left ear.

How does Ferrari and Ferrari parts dealers get away with tripling the price on readily available parts? It's criminal....

Glad to hear it worked out Bob!! I will add that fan to my aftermarket(non-expensive) parts fixes for the Ferrari...
