Working on rebuilding my water pump. Think the $140 rebuild kits are over priced so I remove the bearings and went to a bearing shop for prices

This is for the larger 42mm bearings

    OEM SKF 6302 28S1/C3 $11.86
6302 is the size, 28S1 means has 2 neoprene seals, C3 is the inside tolerance

    NSK 6302 VVC3 made in US $12.13
VV means 2 neoprene seals rest the same

So you can get 2 bearings for the price charged for one at f parts sellers.

Just order the multi piece rear seal and whatever else you need, save some bucks
The rebuild is very simple. Unless you destroy the snap ring or the bearing ring on removal there is no need to replace them as there is virtually no load on them.

Do you know if these bearings will fit a '89 water pump? Thanks.

Yes, those are the #116159 'large' wp bearings that started shipping sometime in '81 & were used thru the 328 series.

If you do a search of Tech Q&A for water pump and bearing you'll find this and also the industry std p/ns for the earlier 'small' bearings & seals. Some of it may be in the old fchat.
