    We all know the drill.

Please use this thread to keep track of the storm, post evacuation ideas/plans, and general storm preparedness.

http://www.boatus.com/hurricanes/tracking.asp looks to be the best website to use for storm tracking.

Just cancelled Orange Beach-Labor Day plans. I know that we still have time and alot can change, but I know I wouldn't have relaxed with the unknown. Nor did I want to be stuck outside of NOLA due to contra-flow. We will see.

Thanks John, never seen that site before...lost my old one on the surfcam website.....

Man, that's one heck of a projection there!

    *thinking*

That's a very troubling projection track.....oil rigs are evacuating for this one..

The storm won't be coming here. I just made reservations with a $200 cancellation fee so that should take care of me having to evacuate

Well, if that's true, then I have to thank you! If it misses us you should just go to your hotel and have a party to celebrate instead of canceling.

It's a couple of cabins in Gatlinburg and the thought has crossed my mind :) I am also going to put some tape up on my windows, the kind that is really hard to get off as a extra precaution. :)

Well then invite us all for a little trip to the Tail of the Dragon! It's like an hour away. Haha

Actually I'm leaving for a trip to the Dragon on the 10th (provided this hurricane doesn't throw a wrench into the works).

This is a pretty good site if you are interested in the different projected paths based on the different models. I would like to see any other good links that some of you might have. When it comes to hurricane information my feeling is that more is always better.

And thanks for that link John.

A few months back I booked a condo in Destin. To hell with it, I'm going anyway. The only change in plan is that instead of going in my fiancee's convertible, we are going in my raised F350 4x4 & I am taking my pet with me... If anything, the weather out there should be pretty nice with the storm in the Gulf. Hell, if that thing decides to come to New Orleans or even close, there is nothing any of us can do about it anyway. Might as well take the necessary precautions, and watch the meyham from somewhere nice with a coctail in my hand.

Either way, if New Orleans eats sh*t again, me and the mrs. are moving back to her hometown of Seattle.

I'll be moving to Atlanta in such an occurrence. My house is already sold, so I'm in a perfect position to move anyway!

Hi Guys, Before I retired this past december I was assiged to the EOC during storms. There's a website called www.wunderground.com (weatherunderground) that we monitored. These guys compound data and get it up fast on their site. They would have updated info available to the public even before the offical government sites. And to be honest a couple of their models were very good. Most of the consoles in the EOC during Katrina had the underground weather site up instead of the NOAA! lol Those of you in LA looking to evacuate but stay close by may look at coming east. I have not heard anything local about closing the casino resorts here in Biloxi/Gulfport. Best of all, they have concrete parking garages several stories high to protect your car. Im guessing if it does come in West of N.O. they will stay open over here? If they do close, you can always keep going east to Mobile or the panhandle. Keep your head down, stay safe and yall come. Joe

I'll have to save that pic to send to a few people.

I'll probably be going to GA. Hopefully it will be nice in the mountains and I can catch a trout or two.

Have reservations in Huntsville and will make a decision in the morning. The last couple of days "my gut" feeling was a repeat of Katrina but now I'm starting to believe the west of Houma projections.
