The battery in my 2007 430 won't hold a charge. I would go to the dealer for a new battery, but the the nearest dealer is about 330 miles away. I did a search and it seems the Odessey PC925T and an Optima are the most popular. Any suggestions or direction you can offer is appreciated. Thanks!

Odyssey is reportedly the better of the two. Recently the quality of the Optima has deteriorated with a large number of failures.

What's the weight difference between either and stock?

I just had the same problem with my 07. I replaced the battery with a Optima and then found out it was a bad factory tender. (The stock battery tested fine)

My dealer mailed me a new charger, but I going to put a aftermarket tender on this weekend. The 430 tenders are junk made in China.

The Odyssey is much lighter than the Optima. Do a quick search on my posts and you will find a long discussion on the subject.

I thought the title was asking the difference between a Nissan Optima and a Honda Odessey

38lbs OEM battery vs. 20 for Odessey 925. But, if you get an Odessey for the weight savings, be sure to have a trickle charger to top it up. Cigarette trickle chargers are about $80; small bolt on trickle chargers that go onto the battery with a plug that connects to an extension cord are about $150-200.

Ferrari will send a flat bed and truck you car to the dealership since it is still under warranty and replace the battery since it is probably defective. I live 150 miles from my dealership and they did it for my 07 F430

If I get an Odessey battery will the Ferrari battery conditioner work as well as the aftermarket trickle chargers?

Generally the answer is yes but I don't know if the Ferrari is set up to handle AGM batteries. AGM takes a different charge profile and they have a lower float current. The one thing you don't want to do is over charge an AGM.

FYI: AGM is Absorbed Glass Mat

A note about the Optima. The battery is a group 78 and has has the standard physical size. That pretty much means it won't fit into the space in your car. There isn't enough vertical clearance to fit a group 78 battery.

The only reasonable alternative to the Odyssey is the Interstate. They make one that is the same height as the stock Fiamm.
