Attached is a photo of the same GTO as shown July 18th at the Art Center car classic held in Pasadena, titled Supercars, past and present. It is owned by Mr. Carl. A silver Gto was there as well as a silverTesta Rossa. A great show!

The car is #4399 a 62 GTO with a 64 body. It was raced by Maranello Concesionaires and is now in the Bamford Collection.

Seen at Silverstone in 1992 when Ferrari were the featured marque at the Coys Historic Festival for their 45th anniversary (there were a couple of others in the paddock, Violati's and another; also a yellow 330 rebody.

It must have been about 1982. I was up in Elkhart Lake Wisconsin to visit my daughter who was at some sort of a summer camp. I was just killing some time and went into the town. It was still a very sleepy little old fashoned summer resort town then. No condos yet. I spotted a lot of cars sitting in the very large front lawn of the old Elkhart Lake Inn (I am not sure of the name). It was late afternoon on a Saturday or Sunday. Many of the cars had been there but were gone or leaving. I saw this GTO. It was just sitting there unattended. I walked over and looked it over liesurelyly. It was red of course. I remember wondering about the little plastic scoops near the rear of the hood. I had never noticed them in pictures. I wondered if they were correct or added.

There were other cars there too. The only other two that I remember were a 427 Cobra which I wondered if it was a replica and an old Ferrari monoposto. I remember looking in the cockpit of the Monoposto and noting that it had the gas pedal in the center. I remarked to the owner that it was a kindof old fashoned place for the gas and he said that it was not. I did not at the time realize that even Indy cars had the gas in the center in 1982 and probably still do.

I thought it was pretty cool. Of course back then they were worth, what, maybe a hundred thou?

I think it was the weekend of the Chicago Historic races.

I just totally stumbled into it.

    It was wonderful.
