The car is on Arab plates, IIRC it goes by the home country's legislation as far as legality of windows go.... right?

The chrome Veyron is a factory job - 5 pieces limited edition (Veyron Pur Sang). Most amazing thing is it lost 100kg.. partly because it's not painted :)

Visited London 2yrs ago and while it wasn't so intense there was no way you would spend 5min around Harrods without seeing an exotic. Mind you that was 2yrs ago... so I wouldn't be surprised if now smth like that were and average day.

    Yeah... petrol! :D

    Fantastic link. Thank you.

I tried to convey to my friends how many exotics there are in London and you just don't get it until you are actually there.

A fellow worker of mine who is a car guy from London had this to say "no, that is not a typical day at Harrods. There must of been some special event that day". He said he has been to or in the area of Harrods alot and said it was never like that, but there are exotics in the area.

Like Moe said some are filthy with dough -- and filthy without it.

I have a hard time imagining driving a relatively special car indiscriminately around London but I suppose for some if it got a ding then no big deal, just trade it in and get another :).

Plus, I bet they trailered them cars from the Middle East (in large jets :):)).

    Im in London...

It is not a planned event per se. However, during the summer months, the Arabs come over here to avoid the extreme heat of their own country.

The youngsters tend to ship their toys over and drive in loops around Harrods, Sheraton Hotel, Hyde Park corner etc. etc.

When the summer is over it goes back to "normal". Still lots of exotics about at all times though.

    That's right.

I was sitting at a cafe near Harrods, was there for an hour and saw the same cars passing 4 or 5 times.

It is an average day in summer, trust me! There are two cafes on that street which are meeting spots for them, so they all converge there. This year it has been really silly; so much that we had to play "spot the cheap cars" rather than exotics! Three Veyrons, 4-5 SLRs, many Murcis, uncountable Gallarados and 430s, are common sightings for ONE afternoon.
have a look at this thread here for what it is sometimes really like, in london and other european places!

Have friends with a flat on Sloane Street, and their genuine complaint is that they cant sleep late on saturdays from the noise of all the supercars driving by there. And thats only the local cars, before you add the visiting summer hoardes!

The hideous CLS, doesnt belong to an arab I think, its UK registered, and the guy just drives around trying to be seen in the company of the real rollers, and grab some reflected glory!

This isn't very modern, and there weren't too many other exotics near this cafe by Harrod's on this nice October afternoon last year, but somehow it still got me pretty excited:

Yes this is an average (summers) day at Harrods. Absolutely incredible to see these cars in such a built up city, the only place that can compare to London is Monaco. The arabs usually go all over Europe during the summer months. Cars such as the chrome 599 and Black/Pink LP640 have been seen in London, Marbella, Geneva, Paris, etc all within the summer months.

    Unbelievable!

Proof that some know how to toss out the money without batting an eye.

The Chrome Veyron in person is absolutely Bonkers. DuPont Registry had 1 at their Booth this year at Concorso Italiano. Also had 1 in Red/Cream exterior. 2 Maserati Mc12's, Enzo and an F50. They stole the show at 1 booth. The rest of the event was the pits.

That is very much an average summer day though summer '08 has been especially crazy compared to previous years! I saw a Veyron waiting to pull out of a junction near Harrods with an SLR722 parked on the roadside and an Enzo driving past on the main road virtually at the same second - unreal!

It is great to see things like the Daytona still around though. I saw a 250 GT Lusso on Sloane Street one Saturday afternoon when I'd seen the Arab supercar party by Harrods a few moments earlier. Always good to see the classics around and there are plenty of those in London that get used regularly.

As for the CLS "Convertible" beast, it isn't an Arab guy who owns it, but a local bloke who does indeed seem to drive it everywhere in an attempt to bathe some reflected glory. It doesn't seem to work though!

And yet as driving by, he is thinking:'oh yeah, everyone is staring at me, and realising what an amazing/rich/handsome/incredible/tasteful man I am!'
What a difference between fantasy and reality!
I could never understand that kindof mentality, similar to the 'ricer' look with the giant spoilers and water mains pipe sized exhaust pipes.

That Range Rover Stormer was built by West Coast Customs for the Dubai Royal Family and for the new West Coast Customs Dubai division. Or so said the TV special I saw on the car the other night. Built from a brand new white Scharged RR Sport.

That black 456 seems to be sat in that space permanently and definitely makes an interesting contrast to all the 2008 spec Middle Eastern cars!

indeed, most of them have horrid taste. More money than sence.

Also popular by them is a platinum key with encrusted diamonds for their koenigsegg, at the cost of £20000 (nearly 40k US$). yes, a 40000 dollar key.
