The long labor day week-end gave us some free time so I had a little fun and came up with this personal vision of the F430 replacement.

    I dream that:
    - It will use the evolution of the F430, like the version installed in the California, with direct injection, but bored and stroked to 4.8 litres. Max power is 580 hp at 8700 rpm. It will have the California's dual clutch 7 speed gearbox (with its own, faster shifting program)
    - body wise, Ferrari will return to more curvaceous, sensous and elegant shapes (inspired by their historic cars: this one from jim's p4-5 and their 330 P4). This will be the 1st of such design language.
    - Of course built entirely in Aluminium to keep weight down (same as current car)
    - The car will have a longer wheelbase than the F430, with shorter (especially front) overhangs to center masses.
    - The car will have electronically adjustable aerodynamics which will increase front and rear wing angles with speed) to provide exceptional stability at speed.
    - The car will have 4 wheel steering (similar to BMW's new & series) to offer exceptional agility and handling without the weight penalty of AWD.

    enjoy ;-)

A cross between the Current F430 and Jim's P4/5? I actually like the sketches so far. Hope it progresses.

I have a feeling the P4/5 sparked a light back into the soul of design and where Ferrari needs to return.

Loves it. Any sketch from the rear? Front looks a bit Veyron-ish but i would love to see the F430 replacement looks more exotic like this.

Actually I drew a "p4 inspired" Ferrari as far back as 1992, if you believe it, when I was a young adult starting college :).

Just found the drawing in my old sketch book...

No, haven't though about the rear yet, but I love the Alfa's 8C's rear... I'll work on it when I have some inspiration...

Actually, I don't like the Veyron as it looks very ponderous... This car will have lots of curves and the same presence as the P4...

Good ballpoint work... 3rd pic reminds me of a Veyron.

Again, I have to disagree... Here's an image of The Veyron and my drawing... if you concentrate on the main lines, you'll see the Ferrari has a much sleeker shape, the Veyron again looks ponderous with an unbalance in the design of the front compared to the rear (the rear is too massive compared to the front)...

The Veyron "reminder" becomes apparent when one focuses on the front, specifically the proportions of the front intakes to the fender arches and up to the lower crest of the windshield. Note the reference image of your design with Bugatti "corporate" front end features. I agree that the Veyron is indeed unbalanced from back to front.

You are one fine artist my man...

I only wish I could draw, much less dream up things like that.

    Very nice indeed

Actually, the nose I'm thinking is more like an eagle's beak. It will split the air into the dual large front air intakes (like the F430 and scuderia) to the dual front radiators, integrated in the air intakes are, of course brake cooling ducts... The flat bottom portion of the air intage serves as a "wing" and a portion can be tilted upwards for downforce at speed. Behind the air intake is a cut in the body to extract hot air...

Basically it's the same principle as Le Mans prototypes but stylized...

Much clearer & very nice! Gives it a sense of class coupled with modern aero functionality. (Big fan of the Alfa 8C)

    Hi Chanh,

    You asked for my opinion.

Nice sketchwork. Clearly your skills with pencil are much better than with a ballpoint. The same counts for me. ;)
If you want to practice to sketch with ballpoints, I advise to use the cheapest Bic.

Personally I don't like the double 'sharknose' vents in the front. It is allways a challenge to fill up the space in between. You have a nice solution by making it look like a hawk, but to me, that's not very Ferrari-like. And... there is no space for the license plate.

About the proportions: please keep in mind what kind of packaging the car is going te get. This will help you to determine some more realistic proportions and shapes of the greenhouse, the waistline, the hight and length of the front and rear fenders, etc.
Try starting with a side view from the F430 as an underlayer and work your way into something new.

I think your head lights are a bit too small. Together with the hawk nose, they make the car too agressive and at the same time the round curves of the body give it a bit of 'Bugatti-softness'. This is a bit confusing.
The Bugatti (IMO) has become a sligtly too fat German lady, unlike the real Bugattis, who looked like slim and sexy French natural beauties. The same goes for your sketches... They have a bit too much bodyfat and could use some subtle sharpness and muscle to make them look more athletic.

Make some choices before you start sketching. Do you want a soft, sexy, friendly design? Something like a Dino?
Or should it be sharp, agressive, muscular? Like an Enzo?
Choose an identity and stick with it from front to rear to prevent people getting confused. People tend to make comparisons with other cars and all you want is that they compare any new Ferrari design with other Ferraris. Or you need to be completely original so people wouldn't have a clue what car they should compare the new design with.
I agree with the ones who immediately compared your sketches with the Bugatti.

In this fase nothing is really wrong, because sketches are allways a search for new shapes and lines. It is a good thing you share your ideas and take the risk that others will give critical comments.
Keep up the good work and enjoy experimenting!
