I found this info on gaming CEO Mark Cale, after his company released the Ferrari Challenge video game.. "I had a desire to really find a way to own my own Ferrari and I the only way I could do that was to get your own successful business and that is really the whole reason System 3 was born, through the desire to have enough disposable income potentially to own a Ferrari at the end of it. So about 25 years on since I started System 3, here I am publishing Ferrari on all the consoles except 360; it's two ambitions collided for me into a wide-ranging, emotional gratification. I love video games; love Ferrari, two main interests in my life, apart from my family that is my greatest interest." (the above from http://games.kikizo.com/features/markcale_iv_jun08_p1.asp) I wonder if anyone here knows Mark Cale? Sounds like a nice guy... on working with Ferrari: "Ferrari has been fantastic to work with and with such a powerful brand, of course as I have been saying there is such a huge responsibility on our shoulders. Ferrari has to be protective of its brand, you can't have a crap product. The way they worked with us, the way they have supported us, the way they introduce us to their partners for promotions, the way they have accessed clients with rare cars so that we could get Bruno Senna in one of the cars and replicate our 250GT on the track. You know it's been phenomenal, access to all their blueprints and cab drawings and things like that, all making for cars that are actually modelled. It has just been a real pleasure to work with them - they've been fantastic partners on the project. "
Good summary. I bought a PS3 and the Ferrari game this w/e. Tried to play it with the standard controller but found it useless - I kept getting the buttons mixed up. Surprising since I played GT3 a couple years back on the paddles. I then got my Logitech G25 wheel down and things were much better. Its seems so much more natural with a wheel and pedals. I still have to find a good driving position in my living room - the wheel and pedals are not properly anchored and so it becomes annoying to re-adjust their position several times during the race. So far I have only unlocked the 550 GTC and Pontoon TR.
Thanks. Meanwhile I'm no longer sure whether adding assists actually slows you down or not. I had more rain races and was catching up cars despite all assists to the max. You should be ashamed of yourself for using the controller! I'm glad you saw the light. After all you drive your Ferrari with a steering wheel, don't you? <sorry, couldn't resist> The F1 pedal shifters on my Logitech wheel are starting to wear out and I have to use the sequential "stick shifter" instead, which forces me to drive with just one hand. Not good for being precise. Anyhow, properly anchored wheel and pedals is paramount. That's why I built the big box I'm sitting in: It allows for additional bars holding everything properly in place. Precision is key. Don't fret your unlocks: I'm only one car ahead of you (250 LM). However I had an epiphany when reading the recent issue of Prancing Horse (no, not my own article): They talked about the Ferrari 430 Challenge series in North America and the results and suddenly I realized those are the names I've been duking with all week long!
I just picked up the PS2 version of this game. At first I wasn't sure if I liked the feel of it but after a day of practice I'm really liking it! The Gamestop cheat also works on the PS2.
Cheat to unlock the 599 In the main menu, press the arrow keys on the controller in the following combination: up up down down left left right right up up down down left left right right If you hear a engine revving, you have unlocked it. Go ot showroom and buy your free 599.
This thread is making me sad. My PS3 is at Sony Repair, I should ask if they can give me a free game, Ferrari Challenge.
Just got this game today. After playing Need for Speed for the past months, I started Ferrari Challenge and was immediatly ready to break it. What really sold me was the F40 on the back, and I figured I could have some fun with my favourite cars... Then I realize how tough this game is! I've played for about 2 hours today and I'm really enjoying it, I've only unlocked the 575, so its no biggie. I'm really hoping for a G25 for Christmas, so lets see how that turns out! Can someone answer, when do you unlock the F40? And will I eventually unlock it in F430 Challenge or do I need to go for Trophy?
I've found itts not as tough as it is time consuming. Its like 20 minutes a race and like 5 minutes to qualify. For one weekend and one car, thats 45 minutes.
I am really liking this game now. I am taking my time enjoying driving the cars and wonderful tracks. I recently started driving the pontoon TR and my first impression was that it drives like a UPS truck - understeer like crazy. The problem was that I was driving it like the 430 Challenge - late braking up to corner entry. I changed tactics and using the slow in fast out mantra, the car has now come alive - it is easy to drift out on corner exit. The TR takes bumps and dips very well. As long as you brake early and get the tail out it is fun through the corners. Good fun overall! So far my likes & dislikes: + Love the car selection + Love duking it out with the crazy AI challenge drivers - I am bumping and banging with the best of them . I think they tend to always cover the inside of the corner on entry. Therefore, I get a kick out of overtaking from the outside. + Love the fact that we only have real tracks and no simulated roads + Love the menu music + Love the fact that the game is tough - Engine Sound could be a bit more realistic - Too many new tracks to learn - I do well on all the F1 tracks but am facing a steep learning curve elsewhere - Not that many configuration/modification options. I would have loved to see what happens when you add 100hp to a 348tb through forced induction - useful to know how a car reacts. This game could be useful to us Ferrari owners as a virtual test bed. +/- There isn't a easy way to learn the car or tracks - basically you have to participate in a race to get the feel. - Shifter seems slow reacting to me even in manual mode. I just unlocked the GTO and am really looking forward to driving it.
Which is the main menu? When you can go to the showroom, race, etc? I've tried this code for my Wii on various menus and it hasn't worked.
