Big 12 has some hype this year. They are on a huge up year, but I think it's a bit overvalued.

Who knows though, Pac-10 is on a down year & the press hates Big10 regardless of performance. Lets not mention the ACC.

Penn State and OSU have more media knob gobblers than just about any other teams I can think of at the moment except Notre Dame. USC or LSU come close, but their adulation is usually deserved.

I am also expecting to be thoroughly sick of Florida and Tebow by the end of the year because of the media coverage.

Apparently I had one too many glasses of wine when I wrote this - obviously the Georgia game is in Auburn this year.

"LSU Athletic Director Joe Alleva says the amount of damage done to Tiger Stadium forced the postponement of Saturday’s scheduled game with Troy. “Tiger Stadium suffered a lot of damage. Windows were blown out. We have no power. We don’t know when power will be back on in the stadium,” he said in a statement. “We have to check on the lighting and the scoreboard.” LSU is set to play Troy on Nov. 15, which was an open date for both teams. According to The Times-Picayune there are hundreds of broken seats in Tiger Stadium and flying chunks of aluminum tore up chunks in the turf. Alleva told the newspaper he hopes the stadium will be ready for the Tigers’ Sept. 13 date against North Texas. Other LSU athletic facilities were also damaged by Gustav; the press box was blown away at the soccer stadium and roofs were damaged at the Natatorium, Maddox Field House and Tiger Park softball stadium."

I would have thought that with the CBS game of the week and all the ESPN/ESPN2 games that you get as many as we do here in the NE. We still get many more Big East and Big Ten Games, but we do get enough SEC games to keep me happy.

Depends on how you spin it. SEC has 4 of the top 10. Big 12 has 2. They both have 6 in the top 25.

Has anyone noticed Golden Tate for Notre Dame? He went to my high school and is a great guy, and he's an amazing player.

West Virginia is the most over rated team in the top 10 right in front of USC.

The only downside to UF's performance last night imo was UF's OL. They didn't create lanes for the RBs and didn't give Tebow enough time. He was always under pressure and being hit. In the forth quarter, they gave him more time and the Gators pulled away. Hopefully as the season progresses, the OL will improve. If we played UGA, LSU, etc, today, we would lose. The only reason I'm optimistic about it is that our guys on the OL are new to their positions (shifted guys over). Our center is new, too.

BT, the Canes looked great on defense. They got tired in the 4th, so maybe their conditioning is still improving. I think your QB will be good and your RBs aren't bad either (which one got injured right away?). Hopefully you guys win out so the Gators strength of schedule looks good. :D

I'll be at the West Virginia-Colorado game in two weeks on thursday night. Folsom field is gonna be rockin, and I'm saying WV gets dropped by another unranked team on the road...It's the Thursday night game on ESPN, so hopefully it's a good one. (Not assuming CU plays like they did yesterday, having to rally to beat EASTERN WASHINGTON...)

By the way, how about Colorado's schedule?

5 of their 6 next games...

    Sept 18th- West Virginia (home)
Sept 27 - Fla State (away)
    Oct 4 - Texas (home)
    Oct 11 - Kansas (away)
    Oct 25 Mizz (away)

We could win 2 of the 5 and that would be "good". If we win all of them ( :D ), We're talking big BCS bowl game....

    Thanks!
I did not watch the game, I was at my daughter's 16th B-day party. Overall I'm happy with what I've read about the game. We were overmatched, and I believe outcoached. Our OC is very conservative. Hopefully he will let the play makers get more involved as the QB gets experience. Anyway, I'd put us at about 50% improved over our dreadful performance last year against Oklahoma, and we did not give up. The defense sounds like they are on the way to being excellent within a year or so, and if the offense can improve we should be competitive with most teams by then. Fortunately, the ACC is really weak this year, so we might get some confidence going with in conference games. ECU is looking pretty good, they should definitely be in the top 15-20 right now based on their wins so far.
OSU is my least favorite team, so I'm hoping they lose big to USC next week.
We will try to win out to make the gators victory look good. We did that in 1987, and that year worked out great for us!

Unfortunately for me, I wouldn't say UF outcoached Miami. I, along with a lot of fellow Gators, hate the way our OC handled plays. We all believe that if Miami's OC had our guys, they would've won easily. Dan Mullen (calls plays for Tebow) really didn't do jack and put everything on Tim, which means he just runs if nothing is there. It wasn't until the 4th when Miami got tired that Tim had more time to throw. I think it came down to Marve's inexperience at QB. It was his first game ever and in a very hostile environment. You could see his jitters in the first quarter, but he was cool later on. He made no mistakes (turnovers), which says a lot by itself given the circumstances.

By the way, Ohio State dropped to #5 in the country from #3!!!! UF moves up to #4, but still unproven there imo (wait until Tennessee, LSU, and UGA to make that call). Alabama up to #11 so 6 SEC teams in the top 11. That'll work itself out in the next few weeks as conference play starts.

Here's a strange observation from yesterdays games (which I watched several because I got a stupid cold). Seemed like every game had at least 3 or 4 plays where someone's helmet went flying off. Nothing unsually about helmet coming off, but 3 or 4 for every game? These teams using new straps or something?

One other thing, that new celebration rule is a total joke. When I read about it before the season started I knew it would not take long for someone to get $crewed.

I sure hope you are wrong. It is hard to imagine that USC will not do better than the University of Ohio did this past weekend, especially at home. I'd look for USC to win by about 20 points.

UF's o-line was pathetic, and the wide-outs weren't far behind. The D looked OK, given Miami's youth they have a lot of improving to do before facing real competition. Special teams as usual were outstanding. Running backs were pathetic, all I heard about was all the new weapons and it was just like last year--Tebow and Harvin. They need to get Moody on the field. Thankfully our next game is UT in a couple weeks, we'll see what Urban works out between now and then.

Wasn't able to watch any games this weekend. Other than listen to the A&M game.

Glad to see my Seminoles beating a lack-luster team. Hopefully they'll have a good season. I was not impressed last year.

My alumni SHSU is @ a 1-0 record now, this past weekend was a by-week. They play Prairie-View A&M this week. That should be a relatively easy rollover for them. Then on to KU, that one will be tough, but looking forward to it. Rhett Bomar is really giving our team the direction it needs. I see a lot of positive things in the coming years for us.
