Not that I need it in this country but my air con would not run cold - I had it re-gassed properly and it lasted a few days then went again.

Whilst driving I noticed a curious rattle which went off when I switched off the air con so I suspect the pump - can these be rebuilt ?

Not had a look at the type but it is a late spec.

A/C compressors can be rebuilt Leo. :):)

But these days, it is easier to just replace them as the cost of rebuilding them has gone through the roof. No one really bothers rebuilding them anymore, so replacement is VERY common around the world of A/C compressors. :):)

Before you get too excited, I would take the car back to the A/C specialist that charged your system "properly" and get them to have a look for you. If they charged it and it is not working after a few days, then it seems you may have a serious A/C gas leak that needs to be repaired mate. They can check for a noisey A/C compressor for you too brother. :):)

    Two questions:

    1) Did you look to see if the airflow to A/C condenser is OK? Look through the hole in the front bumper - you might have picked up a plastic bag, or a pile of leaves or something.

    2) Was the "curious rattle" coming from the front or the back? If it was from the back, then it's most likely something to do with the compressor. But if it was from the front, you may have something wrong with the flap/servo for your fresh air recirculation system. The noise these make is more like a "clack-clack-clack" than a rattle.

Thanks - the noise was in the engine bay - I'll send the car back in and get them to check for leaks - it had a gas change from r12 to r134a and they described the process to me - they had done it successfully on many others.....

Cool cool. They probably pinched an o-ring when they put it all back together. That or they left a fitting loose or something. :):)

Hope they sort it out for you asap Leo. :):)
