456M Hood release problem, help urgent!!

    Hi everyone, I have got a major problem here, my 456 M Hood release handle broke off and can't open the hood. I haven't been driving it for over 2 months, so I was trying to open he hood to recharge the battery. Now the battery is dead, hood release handle is broken, any other way I can get the hood open? thanks eveyone............urgent.......

    I have not needed to do this myself,however,if the front grill is removed,you can locate a loop near the catch,use a hook of some sort to pull it,and 'hey presto' it's open.
    I have seen the loop when the hood is up.

    thanks alot! by the way do I need to take the fog lights off too, or is it part of the front grill...........

    There shouldn't be the need to remove anything if you have a hook or a wire coat hanger.
    If you look carfully behind the grille, you should be able to see the loop of the cable that you need to pull.
    It is there just for this kind of emergency.

    It needs to be something pretty strong threaded through the mechanism is not the best and I think a bit of a design flaw IMHO.

    The tug needs to be directional - I think straight down - rather than towards you - A REAL Pain though!

    For best access you need to remove the grill. Had to do it on my 575 and no big deal.

    That would be a good Idea - I had a Horse imprinted in hand, forearm, tricep, face just trying to figure it out :)
