Duvel, Mort subite (sudden death), Pauwel's Kwak.. Belgians make the best beers I think...
Might I pipe in and suggest a few.... Orkney Brew's Skull Splitter Anything rogue.. including Dead Guy Kellis Irish Skakespeare Stout SweetWater Brewing Co. 420 Blue/ with an orange slice Roadtrip Coopers Sparkling Ale Monty Pythons Holy Ale by Black Sheep Fat Tyre Ale Hobgoblin
Good recommendations. I've found that Fat Tire tastes a whole lot better on draft, than out the bottle. For some reason I get a strange aftertaste in the bottle.
Mad River Brewing Company Steelhead Extra Pale Ale excellent http://www.madriverbrewing.com/pages/brews.html Sort of like Sierra Nevada without the sharp hop finish. http://www.sierranevada.com/
I wish I had the chance to try Fat Tire out of a tap. My friend actually brought me a bottle back from a trip out to Oregon. I was amazed by the beer. Also I cant stress trying Orkney's Skullsplitter enough. It is so good. Comparable to arrogant bastard. Plus I believe its at 8.5 apv so a stout beverage. DAMN I JUST LOVE BEER!
Fat tyre on tap does taste better than bottled but I still buy the bottled often. Day in and day out Deschutes Black Butte Porter out of Bend Oregon has to be one of my favorites. I have to agree with the folks who say that the Oregon craft brews rate pretty high on the scale. I don't drink lite or light anything, I like beer to taste like beer.
If you can find a bar/pub around you're area that has it, definitely worth it. However, with my experience it's hard to find a fresh tap. I've only been successful once on having it not taste a bit flat.
Magners is a good daytime drink.. best beers: Dragon Stout or Guiness, if you like stout (usually all i drink.) otherwise, Vielle Bon Secours Robinsons Old Tom (fantastic.) Hoegaarden Desperados (a much better version of Corona, produced in France.) Sagres Bell & Club (east african lager)
I'm disappointed with the lack of Unibroue beers recommended, some great ones are: Trois Pistoles Maudite Fin Du Monde The only Chimay I've ever tried was the Tripel White, really enjoyed it. Will hopefully try the blue some day Haven't really tried any American beers unfortuntaley, but a few Australian ones I enjoy here are: James Squire Porter Barons Black Wattle Original Ale
So funny that my 2nd reply ever to a thread will be on this one... Two amazing choices for those of you who like Hops are 1. Stone Brewing Company www.stonebrew.com My personal favorite that is available all year is "ruination". This is an IPA that is so floral and Hoppy and not horribly strong (7.7 ABA) that you can drink it regularly. comes in 22oz bottles. 2. Russian River Brewing www.russianriverbrewing.com Simply amazing brewry. Most of there stuff is only available on tap. The best IPA in the world is made by this Company called "Pliny the Younger". Pliny the Younger (11%) is hopped three times more than their standard IPA, and is dry hopped four different times. One that is readily available is "Pliny the Elder". This is a double IPA (8%) that has won many awards and is always a good choice These are those beers that make Coors light taste like the piss water it is!!!!!!!!!!!!
Worked a Land Rover event up there a few years ago for about a week. Went to the brewpub in Bend everynight. Fat tyre is awesome fresh. Place had lots of good beers but the names escape me. Mirror pond ale..that's it. Great stuff.
that one http://es.youtube.com/watch?v=E1Mbfl67_28 and that one http://es.youtube.com/watch?v=-FqHw67-KDo
not everyday beer for statesiders, but would love to taste someday. beer by trappist monks: http://www.whitebeertravels.co.uk/sixtus.html
Gulden Draak Ale Maredsous Dubbel 8 Maredsous Triple 10 Anything From Unibroue ...Guinness Stout is always a good default...
Try Goodwood organic ale www.goodwood.co.uk whilst there check out the motor sport they sell 1.4 million bottles a year
YES!!! love Unibroue - Don De Dieu is the mermaids tits Have you had the 17? For a lighter less alcoholic beer - Hoeegarden or Ainger Brau Weisse http://www.merchantduvin.com/pages/5_breweries/ayinger_brauweisse.html
Best want to drink beer ever....Boreale Rousse. Only available in Quebec. Found that Rogue Dead Guy Ale has similar taste. Corsendonk and Affligem (Belgian Ales) are most flavorful I've had, although Chimay and Duvel are excellent also.
Haven't tried Andygator, but I'm a fan of Abita, which is a "local" beer for me... http://blog.nola.com/tpmoney/2008/08/highalcohol_abita_andygator_ge.html snippet: "...which is 8 percent alcohol and still available only on draft...plans to begin selling Andygator in 22-ounce bottles in January...High-alcohol brews like Andygator, known in the trade as big or extreme beers, are among the many craft beers that are grabbing a growing share of the nation's beer market..."
My favorites for years now are the Bavarian Weissbiers. Specifically Franziskaner (helles & dunkel), Paulaner, Hacker-Pschorr, Weihenstephaner, Ayinger. I can def. also enjoy Pilsner Urquell or Staroprammen. It used to be that I preferred American Micros, but since having traveled to Germany several times, I realize that these blokes REALLY have nailed it after 1000's of years.
http://www.brauerei-weihenstephan.de...page=home_2_1& The rest are only imitators, especially since it was the first brewery on earth. When I drink beer, I drink this. Smooth, clean, crisp, hoppy! Great stuff! If you can wait a long time, or have friends, then there is one with a little better flavor... http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/313/1545 But it's very scarce.
Definitely not the "best" beer, but I had a Miller High Life this weekend. The last time I had one I was 16 I think. It wasn't that bad really. A little watery, but I've had a lot worse.
