Which car is this (s/n) http://www.f l i c k r .com/photos/nathanleland/2774171490/sizes/o/ There are more photos of this car from this person. 2008 photos..... Which car does Maier drive? (312P spyder)
You mean #0872 with Arnold Meier (Switzerland). The other one, #0870 is still with Pierre Bardinon (France).
Tom: 0872 was restored to allow it to be changed from Spyder to Coup and back again. The car was purchased and run as a spyder in germany (i think) but came to Laguna as a coupe. This photo was taken at Laguna at the Monterey Historics. See: http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=210643&highlight=0872
Here is #0872 in spyder form during Ferrari days at Hockenheim/Germany 2007. A beautifull race car. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
As a coupe it is the most beautifull Ferrari imo. Thanks for sharing the photos. Did Francois Sicard do the resto/rebuild? Tom
Peter Sachs after many years of difficult rebuild (the components had been apart and scattered: see Cavallino 99 and 101) had 0872 at Cavallino 2003, as a coupé. It is indeed possible to change the configuration from coupé to spyder. At Moroso that year it did just a lap or two but the tires were touching in the wheel arches and that could not be remedied there. I just saw it being driven away from the concours lawn by his mechanic and to actually see and hear it move was incredible: one of my top three or four favorites. The day I went to the Mas du Clos on May first 1998 to photograph 0870, the other surviving car was a very special occasion. Pierre Bardinon and I had to go through the elaborate procedure of opening up the back of his shrine museum (it is very complicated and involves a specially made ramp, probably not for me to discuss here) and since the car was at the back end of the display we had to push many of the ther cars including the Le Mans winers out of the way, then we wheeled the 312P through them, with 1cm to spare on each side. I photographed it outside the museum for Cavallino then we put it back insde and he invited me for lunch: he just said would you like an egg? The lunch with his wife, son and the son's girlfriend, on a huge raw marble slab in their spectacular castle kitchen turned out to be much more than an egg but it was very simple pure good food. His thoughts made a lot of wise sense, the chassis number obsession is not one he shares. Then I was offered the opportunity to lap the track which I did with his son...in the little Peugeot I was driving that day! Quite an occasion.... Best regards, Marc
I remember seeing the car with its old bodywork back in 1988 at the RA CHR/FCA event. Funny thing is the NART body had a slightly better racing record than the #872 SEFAC 312P coupe body, but its not as pretty. Is the rear bodywork new? I would like to see #870 and #872 sitting together again to see how close the reconstruction has been. Great to see it done. Tom Tanner/SD
From Eno's scrapbook photo's IMO the entire coupe body as well as other things are new construction made by him.

0872 was sold on the 12th June 2007 by the US owner to Arnold Meier in Switzerland. The car was airfreighted from NYC to Frankfurt (Germany) and then transported to Zurich, Switzerland, where it arrived on the 21st June 2007. It was NOT bought from somebody in Germany. I know because I was personally involved in this entire transaction. Yes, it has both Spider and Berlinetta bodywork. David Franklin raced it twice in the historic challenge (Hockenheim and Mugello) in the fall of 2007 and this year in mid-August at Laguna Seca (Monterey historic automobile races). It was then shown at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elégance on Sunday 17th August 2008. The car is now back in Switzerland. It will be raced early October 2008 at the Ferrari Racing Days at the Nürburgring, again by David Franklin. Marcel Massini
Cars raced in the challenge must be certified. The factory has inspected the car twice and 2007 and 2008 it has spent several weeks at the classic dept in Maranello already. Marcel Massini
I'm sensing a more reasonable attitude from Classiche which I think is a good thing. Cars like this who's history is fully disclosed are what they are but they are what they are and it's good that Classiche is beginning to recognise that.
Will be at the Historic Challenge in Germany next month. Hope to see the car as a coupe! Been to Mas du Clos, but Mr. Bardinon was not at home that day; but we were invited the day after. Sadly we were travelling through France so there was no time left to visit him again. Maybe ine day.........but his collection has already fallen apart and more cars will be sold. I did not know the 312P was made of GRP, It thought it was aluminium just like the 330Ps. Does anyone have recent photos of her ex body, now with 330 engine and lola parts?
He has sold some cars but I would NOT say the collection has fallen apart. That is not a friendly comment.
The car YOU mention here has NOTHING to do with the genuine 0872, except that decades ago the number/identity of "0872" was used on a bitza. THAT car is NOT a real Ferrari. Marcel Massini

There are several racers sold over the years (some are: 0594 (still owned by Bosch family), 0596, 0602, 0626, 0806, 0808, 0824, 0862, correct me if I am wrong). Still it is a big collection he has today. There is an interview (video) done by a Dutch TV host back early nineties (or end of 80s) where his collection was shown on Dutch TV. There were lots more cars then today. It was very nice to see all the cars and the racetrack. Editing: The collection in the TV show was the Setton collection with a (his?)circuit.
