Felipe Massa's engine will be the next power unit to be looked at by the FIA following the governing body's decision to carry out random checks this season.

The process began at the German Grand Prix, where Lewis Hamilton's engine was the first to be sealed so the checks could be carried out.

Current rules prevent engine manufacturers from making technical changes over the course of the season.

The FIA said Massa's engine will be next.

"The engine of car number 02 is kept sealed in order to carry out further checks according to Article 5 of the 2008 FIA Formula One Technical Regulations. These checks will be done before the Italian GP," said the FIA in a statement.

Thanks for pointing that out. Those who immediately thought of an anti-MCL conspiray after Hockenheim will hopefully be quiet now ;)

The FIA has given the Ferrari engine of Felipe Massa the all-clear, following a routine inspection prior to the Italian Grand Prix.

A series of tests on all the manufacturers' engines begun to ensure that the power units being used are in conformity with those homologated with the governing body prior to the start of the season.

The Mercedes-Benz engine from Lewis Hamilton's car in Hockenheim was the first to be checked, with Massa's Ferrari power unit chosen for examination after Belgium.

FIA technical delegate Jo Bauer confirmed ahead of the Monza weekend that the engine complied with F1's technical regulations, and parts in it had no disparity from those already homologated.

Well, we all know that he could have just swapped the engine for one with no illegal modifications. Maybe Gandalf was there.

    LOL.
