How did you go completely salt-free? It's virtually impossible. Congratulations man! You look great. Is that the same shirt in both pictures...lol?
I have since upped my caloric intake to about 1500 and added to my swimming and lifting. Also, I make sure I spend 30 minutes (in 10 minute intervals) in the sauna every day. I have lost 10#'s since that picture was taken.
Two months of running and weight lifting. I aim to finally get a six pack this Christmas. Weight Starting: 212 lbs Current: 199 lbs Military Pull ups Starting: 1 (yeah laugh) Current: 9 And the before and after pics Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Wow, That what my final goal is. Hope it works out well for you. I'm just over half way for the run and almost half way with the swimming.
Here is a before pic taken on 9/9/08. I'll have an after pic in 8 weeks. Image Unavailable, Please Login
hey, don't knock my forum, i don't knock yours. you guys can talk about $400,000 cars and we can talk about $4,000 purses.
I wish I would have had pics of me at 165ish about a year ago. I'm about 5'8" and had a gross gut and very little muscle. Lost 21 pounds and got down to 144, still had fat, and no definition in my abdominal area but I looked and felt a lot healthier. Got upset and lazy after a breakup and put 10 pounds back on earlier this summer. I started working out again beginning of August with a lot more cardio on top of lifting and got down to my weight now which is hovering around 147-148lbs. I will have pictures up soon that I took earlier today. If you guys could I would love some input! My goal is to drop about 5-6 more pounds. I need to lose the jiggling tire around my lower stomach. After that I want to eventually get up to 153-158 without the fat. I need to regulate my diet much better though. Keep up the good work everyone!
Great progress man, that's awesome. And no laughter on the pullups. A lot of people can't pull up themselves. And after pic.....lmao! You posted your after pic, before your before pic.. HAHAH!!! As for purse forums.....holy ****. Learn something new everyday. I hope to make it to the gym today. First time since last Wednesday. And I already feel myself losing strenght and losing muscle. But if that's just another inconvenience due to Ike then I really can't complain.
I know it's much easier for men, but for us women it's damn near impossible. The most I've ever done is pull myself up after someone got me started.
Damn man, that's progress. Most people use the winter to bulk. I'm strictly working on getting my abs to come out more. They're there, I just have do more crunches/situps. If I gave up beer I'd have an easier time, but I don't want to. What supps if any do you take? Attempt it one at a time. Not that you are, but don't feel embarrassed if you can only pull yourself up once; assisted or unassisted. Once you can get up once, do one, rest, do another one, rest, and another. Then the following week go for 2. Try the assisted pull up machine to build up your strength as well. You could actually use the pull-down machine to be a starting point. And you'll get similar results.
I told myself I would start bulking September 1st, but I've had to delay that for work-related reasons. I will be starting on Monday. I don't really care about abs as I care about just being in shape all around. Obviously I want to look good, but I'm more concerned about function over form. Case in point - I don't think I've ever done bicep curls. What's the point? An effective back routine will target your biceps just as well as a bicep isolation exercise. Supplements? Muscle milk for breakfast and before I go to bed. ON Isolate post-workout. Flaxseed, fish oil, multis. And I will give NO-Xplod a try. I don't want to, but one of my co-workers is an ex-NFLer and he suggested I give it a shot. We'll see how it goes.
My original reasoning behind going to the gym was just to get active again, and I was always tired. The reason I want my abs to come out is since they're slowly coming out I may as well focus on having them. But I do want a well rounded phsyique, in my eyes not others though. Occasionally I take muscle milk, usually just before bed. Take whey with breakfast to get the body going. Never used NO-Explode, nor other NO products. NO-Explode seems to not be very good from most of the posts on bb.com I've read. But for some it does work. Worth a shot, plus you never really know what those guys are talking about. Thinking about doing one cycle of creatine just to try it. But definitely not for a continual supp. I'm taking ON whey now, it's okay just don't care for it. I really like Champion Nutrition I've used so I'll probably switch back to that.
Texas, I'd avoid the Creatine... Quick story- My younger brother (18yr old) graduated high school. He wanted to be like me, so he started wt lifting. He started out 6' and I'd say 140# (pretty ripped and athletic). Well, I never noticed any difference and then BOOM, within a month I noticed a huge difference. I found out he had started Creatine. He got up to around 160# and he was full of him self. Always wearing short sleave shirts etc. Then he layed off of it.... He's now back to where he started from. His ego went from being "HUGE" to now being po'd because it was not lasting gain. There are no shortcuts without consequences. Everything has a ripple effect IMO, sort of like our current economy crisis. To get the abs, worry about the diet first. Until you get under 10% bf, you will not see much of your abs. While you work on your diet, start doing 10min of abs after every workout. Switch it up, but make sure it's at least 10min worth. Being ripped goes much farther then being big IMO (at least looks and health wise).
Thanks for the advice. Diet is in check, well not too much since I'm still not back home (no power). But still eating lean food, just no veggies and such and not as many times a day. And working on doing more cardio, as well as a new routine but this hurricane has put that on hold for the time being. I'm still not sure about creatine, I was just thinking about it and I was going to wait until I got to a certain point before I tried it. I've never seen or heard anyone getting crazy like that from creatine. I doubt my ego would shoot up though. But it is something to be thought of, I don't want to be "that guy". Losing it is why I've never truly considered using. I still can't say I won't, but it's not something I would do afterwards. A one time thing. Thanks again, I really do take yours and everyones advice to heart.
