maybe these guys had a special arrangment, let's not jump the gun here... I agree it's shady to deceive people on ebay, but we don't know the whole story.

Oh yeah, did your car pass the ppi and then the guy still backed out? THAT would would be truly an ****** move, but not if the car failed badly.

No pre arrangments. I simply won the auction and now I want to be sure it all legit. Who among us would send the cash without having this done? I hear ya ... have it done before hand ... why, so I can waste money and get out bid in the end ... or have the seller use my PPI for thier benifit to sell to others ... come-on .... if it is all legit, a seller will have no problems with an inspection. It is not an excuse to get out ... just protection!

IF THE CAR IS WHAT HE LISTED ... THE DEAL HAPPENS ... HOWEVER IF THE SELLER HAS BEEN MISLEADING ... WE ARE BOTH OUT SOME MONEY (MY INSPECTION WILL SURELY COST MORE THAN THE EBAY LISTING FEES).

The seller specifically said not to do this, I was interested in this car as well, cash in hand and did not bid on it because I would not be able to get a PPI done in time before the end of the auction... He said he has already had this happen to him, where people walked away from the deal. Its not unreasonable to expect to get a PPI done, but you need to get it done before the end of the auction...

I have spoken with him, and he is ok with me getting someone to check it out. If people are walking away after an inspection ... maybe there is a reason for that. If I could not get it inspected, I would have simply flown out there and inspected it myself. Either way, it is going to be check out before sending money ... only a fool would do otherwise! AND what does cash in hand have to do with anything? Does that mean that you are able throw good money away faster? I have 2 ferraris, 2 shelbys, a gt-40 and a few old muscle cars ... I am not to worried about cash in hand. The money is the easy part!

Please do not lecture me on how you were gonna bid but ... and the seller said blah blah blah in his auction ... I have learned not to trust anyone on ebay, and I do things my way ... after all the customer is always right! If the seller does not like it ... he can always contact you ... I am sure you are ready to give him your cash on hand now!

I just think its unfair to waste the guys time, get your PPI done before or don't bid... I would have liked to buy the car had I had time to get it checked out prior to the auction ending, I even called several of the independent guys in the area to arrange a PPI and none could do it on short notice. I chose not to waste everyone's time by bidding and then backing out of the deal, as the seller mentioned its already happened several times... By cash on hand I was referring to the fact that I am a serious buyer and not a tire kicker.

Whatever enjoy the car, I hope it works out for you. If its in good condition its a great buy.

For 47K I would expect to find all kinds of crap wrong with the car. Anytime someone says it blows "Ice Cold Air" you can just assume it's a dog. What would have to be wrong with this car before you would back out of this deal?

I'll also add that given his description that sounds more like a nigerian scam, I would probably go to get the car in person. I'l bet this is where the crazy stuff will show up and something will be funny with the title.

Ya I like his class ... "YOU ARE A JERK ..." is what he wrote in the title. That shows real class (In trailer trash country)! So it is OK to be a total ********* up front, as long as you are rational afterword. I call that BiPOLAR, not class.

However, I was glad to see he did not bash me again or continue with his name calling ... I came to this site and started this thread for help, not a bashing.

I have already got some red flags with this deal.

    1) The seller asked to send the deposit money to an account other than the one connected to the ebay auction.
    2) When I asked about the title, I seem to be getting a story around how he just sent it in (however he said he has it back)
    3) The carfax shows a lien, however he did say he has a release.
    4) Carfax shows a recent title application near the end of august ... why?
    5) The seller is concerned about a mechanic coming to inspect the car and discussing the issues
    6) The car was a leased car
    7) The milage seems to have almost stopped on the car from 2003-now.

Combine that with a very bad cell phone and a seller with an accent ... and I am very nervous about my 50 Large!

Yes I support you having it inspected don't get all hung up on the remarks from everyone. I bought one on e-bay as well and you are a fool if you do not go to see it in person. If I did not when I won the auction I would have been very disapointed when the car arrived. When I inspected it it had a big dent in the car that was not specified until I saw it in person as well as a vry suspisious owner. At that point you have to make a decision do you want a car that has issues or do you move on. I moved on to another one on e-bay and even after an inspection I still put about 29k into it because the service history was fictitious and I did not bother to have it verified. Transmition was a time bomb and it was apparently repaired with bubblegum to last a few months and then bang. Be prepared and educate yourself on your potential e-bay purchase because once it is paid for and in your driveway any issues are yours. Always keep in mind when buying a Ferrari if the price is to good to pass up and well below reasonable market value that is a good time to walk away unless you know the car extremely well and can verify its history. Sounds like you have a few other toys as well in the garage have fun good luck.
