Fernando Alonso has made a bold claim that STR is the third force in F1.Is he smoking that peyote when he made this statement.Cuz' i Know FA didnt just say "Minardi" is basically a front-runner.Sounds like no contracts are working out and after seeing STR win on Sunday he's gettin desperate.Sad for a Double World Champion.

Might not be such a far stretch if you look at the competitiveness of the team in the past few races. They seem to be doing something right. They certainly have some momentum going.

Not to downplay this last w/e but I think BMW has better qualifications as "[F1's] 3rd force".......

I think it's clear that STR is doing things right and I am VERY happy for Vettel/STR, but to be honest it WAS during a rain-equalized weekend. I mean look at Sutil at Monaco this year he was runng in 5th (I think, someone correct me) before Kimi ****ed him over.

The BIGGEST thing that I hope comes out of these "cinderella story" races is that teams keep up the development and hopefully more funds come in to support said development.....just my 2 cents

Its a long shot but with Vettel going to Red Bull next year, maybe Alonso is thinking with STR's recent performances they wouldn't be a bad team to join for next years campaign.

Plus, that result has got to have substantially increased the value of STR - Any potential buyers out there are now getting a "winner", and that's got to help not just Mr Red Bull sell 'em (although I suspect he may now want to sell RBR instead!) but the never ending search for sponsors. Hopefully they'll continue to improve - Although "we" didn't get the desired results, I think it's a great thing for F1 in general.

    Cheers,
    Ian

He needs somewhere to park himself for the next couple of years and burn another bridge while he hopes and prays for a seat at Ferrari (that will never come).

ya I read that but I think he was just sincerley congratulating the Team and Vettel for a great maiden win AND also for Vettel becoming the youngest F1 grand prix winner in history! Everyone knows a Minardi like team can never ever compete with the big 3 suppliers in F1

they're not 3rd as fred claims. but they're definitely moving u the ranks big time. rain or no rain, no one was able to catch Vettel, not even HK in a Mclaren, and he's been on a roll this past few GPs, hasn't he..

It's just that we know *anything* he says is going to be twisted and taken out of context herein. He's in a complete "no-win" situation when it comes to people here.....

You can say that again!!. and the same goes for LH.

If FA was in that Ferrari this year, he would be winning no question.
