That's what I believe. With the 430 Challenge half a lock is enough to get through most corners including a hairpin. I did the same with the Pontoon TR and it didn't make the hair pin. I used a lot more lock and some throttle to get it through.

I would say stick with it .... the game is frustrating at times but is fun.

    I'm glad it doesn't. That's what PGR4 is for.

Just did the tutorial, which helps in getting faster btw. Tiff Needell gave me a few pointers.

Must differ on this point though. With all the assists turned on it should be near arcade and something for a quick casual run. With them turned off; simulation. That is how it is being billed btw.

    Just my 2.5 cents. YMMV.

My best so far is 78%. Since then it's been hard to top with the hand controller, I might get a better score with the G25 wheel. (So I'm told by various racers online.)

There is a Game option where you can select the AI difficulty level - I believe the default is Dynamic which is why sometimes the drivers are awesome and other times they trip on their feet. Choos a beginner/novice level to make it easy to overtake.

The Paul Ricard track in France is a PITA! I haven't finished better that 6th in about 12 tries. This is the last race that I have to do in the intermediate class in order to place first and win the prize car. Does anyone know if you need to finish all 4 races at one time or can I quit and try the last track later.

Thanks! I completely missed that! Now at least I can learn the way the tracks and the way the game operates.

Intermediate class? Huh? There are different levels? I haven't figured that out yet.

I did Ricard yesterday and ended up 3rd in my 2nd race. I'm going back and forth on this but I do start to believe that turning assists on to the max slows the car down: I was faster with assists tuned down and sliding. Weird and unrealistic.

It's the second group of races in the arcade section. The first group was beginner, the second is intermediate. Then there is a professional group of races.

I've been racing this damn track for 3 days now and the best that I can place is 4th. I could use another lap to 2 to catch the leaders. I'm no longer driving with the assists on max, I can drive the car pretty good now with minimal assists turned on.

In most sim games you will be faster with the assists off....provided you have skillz.

This game really is very hit and miss.

Some great features, and some very weak.

Oddly enough it has complete support for the G25, and even illustrates the Clutch as eing mapped - but I cannot find a setting to allow a manual clutch - so it looks like in the pursuit of "reality" Mark Cale sort of forgot to get exerienced game community members to test his game.

If he did, then the huge glaring faults lwould have been addressed.

It seems such a waste to have all these aweseom Ferraris painstakingly modelled and the ability to race them on grreat tracks - then they have NO replay save features.

What a bust - afetr spending 10 or 15 minutes thrashing a 250 TR to the front of the pack, the least I would want to be able to do is to rewatch that epic race on a nother day.

How else do we, the game buyer and player get to enjoy the pretty decent 3D models?

The other frustration has been that with the G25 connected, the game controls for exiting the replay feature sometimes (most times) dont wor - so if you do try watch the replay, you have to quit the game to continue, losing your current race progress.

Even the Forza-like vinyl/paintshop has control issues at times.

The title has some amazing potential - but I do believe all the problems are validation that Mark Cale was a micromanager during development, and possibly never took the criticisms to heart when they were raised.

This game would have been a GREAT product if released in 1998/1999 time frame - but fo r2008 to release such an incomplete title is a very poor show.

Lets hope they have some patches to address the main issues.

Maybe we can do some online racing sometime ;)

I realize that, but it is unrealistic: Let's take the Enzo as an example. Not even Schumacher could be faster with all the assists turned off than a regular driver with all of them on.

The games just punish the users of assists, but in reality you are faster with them turned on.

Has anyone been playing online? I you haven't tried it yet it's a lot of fun, last night I had about an hours worth of excellent racing with 8 other people. I've got family in town so after diner tonight I'll be back online later on. I also changed my race team's name to FCHAT_TX instead of Lone Star so be sure to look for me.

While I'm getting better at it and win occasionally (even lap some of the cars), the championship is still hard. So far I managed 5th in Europe and 4th in North America:

I noticed that the top drivers are incredibly consistent. Unlike eg. F1CE where one race is won by Alonso, then one by JPM, MS or Fisichella. Here it seems it is always the same guys in the same order and they rarely make mistakes, have a DNF etc.

I wonder whether the real Ferrari Challenge series is that super close and consistent at the top?

Anyhow, as with all things racing, practice improves lap times and I can see how I'll eventually get better at this over the years. Which is the mark of a great game.

    Nice job!

I was driving the Monza GP yesterday on F1CE and realized how different the cars are and how different steering, gas and braking inputs are required. Even the "wrestling" with other cars is different: F1 is much more on/off on the gas and brake and the aero slows the cars down so much, you can put the braking points much closer to the apex. Of course ground effect also lets you take the corners much faster. Changing gears is faster and a spin induced by too much gas is much easier. Also the F1 car is much more twitchy and nervous around the track. Finally while bump passing is an ideal way with Challenge cars, it is a sure fire way to break something on the F1 and it is game over.

All of these differences of course make absolute sense. It was just a joy to discover how both games model them so neatly. Try it out yourself with Monza as it is in both games (so is Spa and Silverstone of course).

I did Ricard in the rain yesterday and got 3rd in the arcade event (which would not have won the event). I did it on retry and basically bumped my way to first in all of the slow corners (also by sliding into the apex and finishing the turn with more speed than the cars in front of me).

Homestead is the track I find most frustrating. There are turns where I can't possibly generate as much speed as my competitors.

I'm trying to use this @#$! game on a PS2 with a Logitech Driving Force (force feedback) steering wheel. It seems like it's not supported for this game? The tiniest movement of the wheel puts the car into the wall, I'm talking like a few ticks of the encoder. The only fun of this game is to see if you can hold the steering wheel steady enough to make the car go straight!

Anyone else seen this? Also I can't seem to change the view, can't get to cockpit through any buttons I've tried.

When I turn on the PS2 with the GT4 disc the steering wheel does a full left and right turn for calibration, that never happens with Ferrari Challenge.

Weird, sounds like your game may be faulty, the only view I have is the cockpit, and the sterring seems really good, but I am using the Wii Version.

There are setting for force feedback, pedal sensitivity and wheel sensitivity. I've found that turning these to low or medium helps a great deal.
