You are right about the non-rosso corsa colors making them at least "50% less Ferrari". Particlarly the brown (marrone) one, but the blue one (Blu Chiaro) is not great either. Unfortunately, I could not afford any red ones, or any better models other than these two lowly examples (plus my blue 365BB #18265 and silver TR #65247). Not a single red one or desirable model! Maybe one day I will be able to afford a 355 (or maybe a 360), even a red one, but for now this is what I am stuck with!
My apartment is in the Seaport at Peck Slip! Easy walk to where I work on Wall Street. Great neighborhod! You will often see my lowly, non-red 400i (#049773) parked on the street there! A Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Those last two are mere 8 cylinders. So that makes them (non-red) 75% less Ferrari! (So says the guy with the silver 308)
Hey! Nice to hear from you. Will likely be over in a month or so - will ping you before I come. STILL love the rims on your 348! Alex
Still burns oil and still does everything I ask it without a hitch. Will likely give it up when my California comes, but plan to keep it going until then... Alex
ROTFL. Don't tell that to the OP I quoted from - he said that my 400i and Dino were "50% less Ferrari" and he owns a RED 355GTS according to his profile (I guess not everyone got my sarcasm).... Alex
Yes, it's a great location and has come a long way from how it was back in the late 70's and early 80's.
LAAAaaaate response, sorry: Not since I put in a NOS fuse box only one sensor gremlin, speedo, which was easy fix.
And that, I believe, says it all. As for the three amigos (456, mondi, 612), my reaction is: got one, want one, wouldn't throw one out of the garage.
Great color on the GT4. Anything but red, please. My boy commutes across the Brooklyn Bridge everyday on a bicycle. I'll tell him not to hit you cars. Cheers, Tom B
Absolute fightin' words!!!!!!! A RED FERRARI being the only desirable Ferrari ?????? ........... IF YOUR A FREAKING (F-car) LEMMING!!!!!! Drown in the "Sea of Red" you Sheetland Pony !!!!! I cast my used motor oil bucket in your general direction!!!!!! LOVERS and Owners of "colored" (non-RED) Ferraris UNITE!!!! We cannot, must not, will not take insults like this in first gear!!!! Let’s pee on the snobbish, the borish, within the "RED" crowd (but not on their cars). I am NOT A 2nd Class Citizen- Owner and NEITHER ARE YOU. We 308 GT4/GTBi/Si 2V or blue, or green, or gold, white, black, yellow, silver, gold, gunmetal grey, wooden, and especially MARRONE owners (like me AND Steve McQueen) ….. we .... we are .... We are MAD AS HE11 AND WE AIN’T GUNNA TAKE IT ANY MORE!!!!!! Snort our collective exhaust fumes you lemming street pizzas !!!!! Uh, Ok.... Sorry....? Lost my mind, but just for a moment ………….. Rant over.
Mark you HAVE to stay away from the schnapps this early in the morning! Or send some this way... And stop watching Monty Python this early in the morning too! ("I cast my used motor oil bucket in your general direction!!!!!! " LOL, just classic)
Hey Joe, I never drink before 10AM and it is ALWAYS after 10 O'Clock AM SOMEWHERE in the world. Send me an address ......... Mark
Everything is relative. While it may be an "ugly" Ferrari, it is still something that is a work of art compared to all other cars out there. My "ugly" comment is relative to other Ferraris, not other vehicles.
WOW! I think you missed the sarcasm in my post - I will try to make it more clear next time. My post was intended to be a sarcastic jab at Nunojcmaia who said my GT4 and 400i were "50% less Ferrari" because they were not red and that these cars were not so bad by the standards of their day - he owned a red 355GTS and his condescension (Nunojcmaia said about two of my cars: "Those two Ferrari (412 and 308 GT4) are neither ugly nor bad cars for the time when they were new. I don't like the color, they are not "rosso corsa" , and that means 50% less Ferrari....") seemed to warrant a little poking of fun. It was never intended to be taken seriously!!! Believe me, if I wanted a red Ferrari, or a 355 or 360 I would go buy one. I don't want any of the above. I threw that in purely as a jab at that Nunojcmaia - I thought the "one day maybe I can afford a red 355" comment was particularly funny since I pointed out that I had to make do with a "lowly" blue 365BB (worth 3x as much). Again, sorry I was not more clear. Please know that I COMPLETELY agree with you - I own 4 NON red Ferraris - each purchased because I thought the colors suited the models best, NOT because I couldn't afford a red one. Sorry for the confusion! Alex Dino #10704 Blu Chiaro 365BB #18255 Blu Dino 400i #049773 Marrone Testarossa #65247 Argento
That's about as ugly as any Ferrari can get. Really not ugly at all. You favor some more than others. But you'd never be embarrassed walking or talking with any swimsuit model. Ever.
Stop it! Stop it! You're getting silly! (Giant foot comes crashing down. . .) The way I read it, you were both being ironic, and you each took the other seriously. Great entertainment. Now, Alex, I want to see that silver Testarossa!
Alex, I was just taking a fun jab at everyone who posts this "Red or Dead" Ferrari color stuff which comes up for time to time. The 4 vs 2V 308 issue is always a hoot too. I did not think ANYONE was REALLY too serious. I think this whole thread was tounge-in-cheek; at least mostly. I sure ment my rant that way (that's why all the smilies). No harm done here at all. We'll have this conversation again in about 6 months, if F-Chat history is any indicator. I'll probably drink half a quart and rant again when the issue comes back up.
Alexander, Next time try to fight, against those who are attacking you, not me. I just said I liked yours cars, but not their colors. Besides, I didn´t said anything about owning a red 355. Why talking about yours cars being 3x more expensive,...... and being so sarcastic? Are you a rich man...good for you! I prefer to be polite. Nuno.
Quote from a story by Erik Nielsen in VeloceToday: Lots of so called Ferrari experts say that the Mondial 8 was probably the worst Ferrari ever made. Magazine writers are always looking for something negative to say and jumped on this band wagon too. But I'd be willing to wager that many of them have never had time to be close with one, maybe never even driven one. While saying a certain Ferrari is a piece of merda may sell magazines or make the person feel big by putting a car (and/or its owner) down, the fact is the Mondial 8 is a nice GT car and an incredible buy if you can find one that isn't a basket case. It's like the old joke: What do you call the guy that graduated last in his class from medical school? Doctor. The Mondial is still a Ferrari. Unquote Here is the full article for those that are interested: http://www.velocetoday.com/cars/cars_71.php I've had my Mondial 8 for 5 years now (and have driven it about 6000 (s)miles), and I have yet to hear a negative comment about it from anybody. Just like with my 911 Targa previously, I analyse the fun/expense ratio, and the Mondial exceeds my expectations in every respect. Even if I would have to scrap it tomorrow (heaven forbid!) I wouldn't regret having owned this car for a second... IMHO, there is no bad or worst Ferrari...every one of them has a "niche market". Image Unavailable, Please Login
