    I know of a 100 point 2 time national champion that will be for sale very soon. I suppose it is for sale now. Price $175,000
    It is gorgeous. Flat floor, 1962 Series 1 3.8 litre. Jaguar Heritage certificate. Let me know if you are interested. It has also won numerous other awards.

    Thats what this 67 is asking.....Given the state of the economy I am hoping for a BIG discount...
    This car is Multi 100 pt show car as well..not even a crumb. or a tea stain on this baby.

    E type is the Exception to all rules....so so many were made for so many years....I think they will not allow them to leap...They can only be worth the price of a restoration..as you can find dead chassis just about everywhere...aftermarket repro parts are a dime dozen...The fact that they are above 100 g's at all is due to the severe cost of nut and bolt restorations....so if you pay $5,000.00 for a parts car and sink $100,00.00 into a pebble beach resto...Maybe you could pull $125,000.00 for a top car....When all the cars are restored every last one...then Maybe then ...will they go much Higher...


    These $175,000.00 asking prices are pipe dreams...Hash pipe

    Good luck finding that $5000 "parts car" unless it comes without the parts.

    Etypes have been rising steadily for years and are finally "worth restoring".

    There are a lot of crappy ones out there and a lot of Series 2 & 3 cars that aren't worth nearly as much as a nice Series 1 roadster.

    I seriously shopped these for a while. 125k is all the money. I'm sure more could be spent on a restoration, but unless you love the car so much that all you are going to do is look at it, I'm not sure what the point is. The 3.8 flatfloor roadsters and Series 1 roadsters are the most desirable; the 3.8s could benefit by an updated gearbox with a synchro 1st and the 4.2 seats (although I like the look of the 3.8 seats better); I also like the metal dash bits on the 3.8. Aesthetically, I like the coupe the best, but top down motoring is still preferred.
    These cars have wonderful motors. I would not want to buy one to restore the cosmetics. Also, I think that Lucas got its Prince of Darkness reputation in part from these cars. My sense is that the earlier XK series is in some ways more robust, although they are a completely different look and drive. They are also pretty pricey to restore and the UK cars are, I'm informed, usually rust-buckets.
    Brian Donovan does really good mechanical work on the E type and is reasonable.

    Series 1 taillights, "open" headlights, polished cam covers and 3 SU carbs are the big clues.

    I think that by '68 the cars had fluted cam covers and Strombergs. :(

    I'm looking for a Winter project. An Etype would be a good one.

    Both cars look very nice but the prices seem a bit extreme even for perfect cars.

    The 1970 is described as having "triple SU carburettors", it is equipped with the twin Zenith-Strombergs as were all Series ll.

    I think 85,000 is fair for the 1970 in the link above. Its in great condition and only 2 owners from new.
